God I loved this place, used to go most weeks. I remember the dance floor used to bounce with crowd when was really going off! Such a special place especially in the early 90s with birth of Jungle/D&B. Now the allnighters when they opened the pier up were legendary, with a line up of DJs that was off the scale. Thanks for posting.

Yep, the floor used to rock! (literally)... It was so great to be able to go out on the pier for fresh air and to, errr, sober up a bit. Never been to a better club. Maybe The Barn was its equal though!

OLDSKOOL HARDCORE JUNGLISM......NOT D & B .....ffs stop calling The OLDSKOOL early 90s d n b ...you will never claim the 88_94 monstrous years as d n fucking b......do you think the ravers bk at then all said they was going to a drum n bass rave bk in 88 89 90 91 92 93 94 ??? No no way They were all HARDCORE...then late 93 the word jungle was popping off .....94 it was hardcore JUNGLISM played .......NOT D N B ...FACT !!! BIG SHOUT TO ALL THE ORIGINAL HARDCORE CREW ❤

What a set, so sad these days are gone, to those saying the mixing is shit, yes there are some mistakes, but these guys were doing it way before any of us, having dj'd in clubs myself I can't tell you how difficult it is, never mind a rave, there's so many environmental variables outwith the music, plus they probably nutted. But that tune at 55 and the mix at the end of it is something else, if you think that's shit, you either don't know the records or have no idea what there actually doing, mixing like that is the reason I got into djing from back then, taking risks, cuts and chops, not your sterile fade in fade out pish with today's lot. Big up all jungle crew wish I could hang out with all of you for a night, we a rare breed now
@00wrongun Жыл бұрын
Before I started bedroom mixing I never noticed mistakes by dj's, I've done 4 party's at a friend's house back in the day, nobody noticed some slight mistakes apart from my other dj friend's lol, people who diss dj's have ago yourself it's not that straight forward

Nah this was from one of the allnighters from the main room which was the roller skating rink iirc. Mickey Finn was responsible for the dodgy mixing here I think. Some of these nights were legendary, especially the Groove Connection one.
@davidh36458 жыл бұрын
What was the groove connection night? Rough date & what DJS played?
@coolinism6 жыл бұрын
Mickey Finn along with Randall were the 2 best mixers of all the DJs at that time
@nicksaunders89075 жыл бұрын
Randall owned Paradise Club floor,his mixing back then,even Fabio said him and groove couldn't do it, Randall was ahead of them, knowing what tune,what rpm mixed with others,and rolling out 2 tunes together for ages, proper mixing then on vinyl
@davidh36458 жыл бұрын
I was at this event, and was still looking for the happy vibe and didn't like either set , I did leave with Fabio and his blonde giril friend just before the end, around this time Mind Warp still offered the happy side and did great parties at the Uni in Colchester and won the battle of Essex between Mind Warp & Oscars

There wasn't bad mixing in this club the decks used to jump because the floor used to bounce being on a peer with all the ravers going mental!!!
@MrJonnyh19728 жыл бұрын
john hall that was just poor mixing from Fabio, who was later known for his long smooth mixing style. must have still been getting used to the bpm of jungle !!!

I hate those MCS so much history has shown that was a really bad thing to do distract from the music they probably felt like people wouldn't just sit there and listen to the music but they totally would have it is so annoying to hear people babbling over the beats

They don't when they run the vocals loud and dry which is 90% of the time. Then they are anti-atmosphere
@coolinism6 жыл бұрын
You do need the mc's at raves to hype the atmosphere get the crowd buzzing, some were good some were bad some were great like Mc GQ Stevie Hyper D and MC MC the best of them all but the MC on this set is shockingly shit in my opinion

I've been listening to this stuff since it came out early 90s I've always hated the rapping over it it has ruined the most classic period of the whole scene the music is superb the MC guy needs to shut up people don't go to see the MCS they go to see the DJ and hear the music I wish there were recorded who's of the East without him she's at some of the shows like this one for
@davidh36458 жыл бұрын
Its not called "rapping" its mcing xxxx

It's part of the UK rave scene! Where the the music was born out of. If you don't like the MCs, Don't go to the raves or buy the packs! Simple. A lot of tunes are released for sale, As well as many other made for album songs.. So just go get them and enjoy! Your hate is noted.
