Would it be beneficial to run the test with a 5800x or something along those lines to see if the results would change towards the 6900xt in some games ? Given the close numbers, I don't think it would matter but I wanted to point it out.

Not really, for most gpus out there it’s typical thing to run at 95-99% when they are bottlenecked, it is really rare to see the card that can actually show a 100. + cpu/gpu relation doesn’t work in the way “this cpu is enough for this gpu”, it varies a lot depending on the game, settings etc, so it can’t produce the results that is always slightly bottlenecked

There's very little dedicated logic upgrades for RT in RDNA3. A bunch of new memory instructions that optimize BVH traversal in the local shared memory and (supposedly) higher ray intersection rate. Every other improvement in this generation is more or less general purpose -- larger/faster caches, more registers, wider ALUs and so on. Even the Infinity Cache improvements are not a clear cut. The 7800XT has half the size, compared to 6800/6900 series, measurably higher bandwidth, but tangibly worse latency. I wont trade my 6900XT Liquid Devil to anything on 5120x1440p resolution yet it does not have at least 50% more performance. P.S. I had 3900x and upgraded to 5800X3D, 3900x was bottlenecking at 1440p. 50%+ load on CPU in games means it's close to max stable performance in terms of micro stuttering. I got this issue fixed by 5800X3D, wanted to upgrade to 5950X, but since I use PC mainly for gaming, I got 5800X3D for no need to add additional radiator to water loop.
Don’t see a problem with it, suits my need more than good still 🫤

@@HardwareLab the 3900x serious bottleneck that setup, even if you try to compare the 7800xt vs 4090 will will get the same results

@@chrisducati26 why not a 100% faster?

Both are valid points these tests are in 4k, essentially the rt ones as that increases the gpu load past the cpu limit. 1080p non rt would show a cpu bottleneck depending on workload. I think a 5800x3d is about 25-30% faster most cases. Instead try hooking up GPUBusy into overlay to show directly the balance of workloads. Loved the video keep up the grind brother 💪

7800xt wins IMHO. Newer, more power efficient will have longer driver support. Plus, since you are likely to buy it new, it should have less wear and tear AI voice sounds like he has a cold. So not good enough yet

In my country, the 6900XT costs $130 cheaper than the 7800XT, which one should I buy?
