The 7900XT is my go to card for 1440p. In my country the cheapest 3080 is more than 1400$ while the cheapest 7900XTX is 1200$. I can find a 730$ 7900XT and I don't think I need more performance than that for 4 to 5 more years.

3000 series + any modern amd card. the extra money spent on a 4080, will be effectively reimbursed throughout the lifetime use of the card. A lot of people don't take power savings into account.

RTX 3000 use Samsung 8nm node, which where power hungry & not good OC AMD RX 6000 use 7nm TSMC node, which needed less volts & have more OC AMD RX 7000 use 5nm TSMC node, wich is less power hungry & better overall RTX 4000 use 4nm TSMC node, wich is less power hungry & better overall node.. wich is the best in market currently The only downside of Nvidia is they already charge 2x more with less VRAM ($1200 80 class card for $1200) While AMD charge 1.5x more with with 25% more VRAM but slightly less performnce ($800) RX 7900xt & 7900xtx will be extremely good GPUs in few months.. they will be cheaper by 30% or so.. RX 8900xt / 8900xtx will probably be same VRAM capacity but with 4nm node in 2024 & for same price.. time will tell

Try pushing the PL slider all the way up, set the memory to 2714Mhz with fast timings, leave the max core at stock, but increase the minimum to 2400mhz, and if it's stable, undervolt by 50mv. This saw a 15-20fps increase in most cases, matching or even surpassing the 4080. These are my settings, and it's an absolute monster.

I own a RX 7900 XTX coming from a GTX 1080 such a big difference, I bought it on March 2023 and tbh I was really upset because of drivers problems I even tried to return it but newegg don't refund open products so I had to keep it, about 4-5 months ago the problems I had were no more, amd really worked hard on fixing it and right now the card is very stable, they work on the amd video encoder too, record, stream and render in sony vegas is a piece of cake, now I'm really happy with my purchase and considering how inflated the prices are on nvidia side going amd this time is really good money expended.

I undervolted it and i even underclocked it and now it peaks at 180w, is very quiet and i have 60fps 4k on high to ultra settings on almost all games. @The Batman My 3600 and 2060 are still capable in modern titles albeit its starting to become obsolete (60 FPS 1080p Medium and around 70 at 1080p low). I know a 7900xtx will become obsolete for 4k gaming in 1 or 2 years. Right now the 7900xtx and 7900xt are better at 1440p than the 2080ti was at 1080p at launch. The 2080ti is still perfectly fine at 1080p and so is the 1080ti. 1% lows and .1% lows are only a problem if game optimization is bad (Fortnite, Lord of the Rings Gollum) or you are running out of VRAM, RAM or you CPU/GPU cannot handle the loads. The 4080 is a terrible card in general. Its cost 200 more than the 7900xtx, and only has 16gb VRAM. Cost per frame is awful. Frame gen is not for me based on the games I play, and FSR 2 is fine for me. Adding what you are saying the what I already know, the 7900xtx would be the best bet. 4090 is priced way to high at almost 1000 CAD more than the 7900xtx.

240hz is not good for these GPUs with the loud coil whine problem. You should better wait for the fixed custom versions if you really want to play 240fps. Only 160 fps lock is a solid solution. I can really recommend the 6950xt, it had mostly the same Performance like the 7900xt with way less coil whine and the prize for the Performance is way better. If you play simple high fps shooters like overwatch, cs go, CoD, Apex it will runs on all games easy with 240 fps native 1440p and faster gpus like the 7900xtx Performance nearly the same, because the cpu bottleneck begins already at this fps area. If you play a game with a high perfomance impact, you have mostly the fsr2 upscaling solution if you really want it should run over the 200fps. I upgraded my 6900xt to the 7900xtx paired with a 13700kf and the Performance increase is only in intensive singeplayer games. RT Performance is a way Higher but not for high fps gaming absolutly nonsense for the minimal image quality Upgrade. I can really say, the new generation is overprized as hell.

Upgrading from an Nvidea 1070 to either the XT or XTX. 1440p 144hz screen (may upgrade the framerate to 180+) so it'll be a pretty huge leap. From all the research I've done, the XT seems to be the best value 1440p card on the market, but the XTX is incredibly tempting, though it is obviously geared more towards 4k and would be overkill for 1440p. I have the money to spare but I hate the idea of purchasing a better graphics card at worse value for money.

The more and more i've been researching the XTX after already buying it, the more confident i get that i made the right decision. That being said, i also ended up buying a new PC all together, so bottlenecking isn't an issue for me, whereas it may be for you. Still, bottlenecking isn't the end of the world and it'll probably still worth it even with a bottleneck.

Mine is 10 years old and going with a 7900 XTX will be a 2000% power increase 😅. It seems to be overkill for me at 4k 60 fps. But I also think future proof as I keep my PC for a very long time before changing the entire new system. Looking at benchmarks now doesn't give you the numbers for how it will perform in 5 years. So going overkill is maybe the solution. Which CPU/RAM did you choose?

@@sawz_z i chose Intel i9-13900KF. Also chose 2x16Gb (32Gb) ram, although 2x8Gb (16Gb) would gave worked just as well. You could probably push the framerate a bit higher than 165fps and maybe go for a 180to240hz monitor? The card can handle it for some games. I saw that on a 4k monitor on ultra settings, R6 could run at about 240fps on the XTX.

Really depends on your monitor, no point in paying an extra 100$ minimum for 1440p but 4k its a must. I had to upgrade my monitor from 1080p 60Hz to a good quality 1440p with real HDR10 and 170Hz totally worth it. For 4k screen with those capabilities it costs 40% more.

That's a lot of extra money, but it all depends on you, if you like better RT performance + use a lot of DLSS then its prob worth it I personally would go for a TUF XTX as within the same price range it melts base 4080 models The only reason the 4080 in the video is the same or better/worse, is because the guy used a OC TUF 4080(EU 1600usd) vs gigabyte semi-OC XTX(1300usd) Meanwhile u can get a TUF XTX for (EU) 1400usd and get overall better performance then even the OC TUF one that costs 200usd more That is taking it account u don't really care about DLSS and RT and can be happy with normal RT and FSR

@@StopherB I think it's worth the extra money in the long run depending on how much you pay for energy and how long you plan to keep the card. The 7900 XTX uses 50-100 Watts more in every case. After a few years the 4080 will have cost less and the money saved will increase the more you use it. I'm still deciding myself whether to get the 7900 XTX or 4080. Amd "might" fix the high power consumption and add better Raytracing Performance. Fsr also seems to be on the right track. But the same can also happen with the 4080 and the Amd improvements have no real impact because both cards keep getting better. So far the only real + to get the 7900XTX is 8Gb more Vram. Or am I missing something?

Would the 7900xt be a decent upgrade from the 3080? Or just save and get a 7900xtx? I mainly play fps games like battlefield and apex at 4k and I use medium settings most of the time.

the 4080 is 400 euros more than the 7900xt..... the 7900xt is clearly the winner. i dont use ray tracing and i dont like to use dlss and fsr. 7900xt is the beast here

Buying a 1k+ dollar gpu to play basic rasta settings only lol. So braindead. If you want a basic looking game get a mid range card. Also not much of a beast seeming it's down 30% from msrp only months after it got released with dog power consumption but you are a basic fps simpleton who doesn't understand it's more than just 1 number that makes a good card.

@@gerald8573 yeah because Nvidia is stupid. Dlss can give u more fps... But it lowers ur resolution..... I don't like to lower my resolution U either play native or you don't. My friend got the 2080 super 4 years ago for 800 euros... And I will pay 850euros to get the 7900xt. Nvidia is not a good company. They don't care about consumer's like us. That's why my build is full AMD

@@meltinsr ray tracing is good but even the 4090 cannot play at 4k ultra with RT on maybe on 50 fps but that's trash... I need 80+ fps to game. Maybe next year the new GPUs will be able to game at 4k with RT on
