FYI there is one reason why rx 7900gre is better than rx 7800xt. The performance is about the same but rx 7900gre is officially supported for AI stuff. So if you want a cheap entry level (with out hacks/custom libraries) gpu for AI stuff then it might be worth looking into. I'd like to see some stable diffusion etc benchmarks in the future.

May be a gem now since they are going for $850 us. At launch it was also decent, but the 4080 super launching at $999 made it a hard sell since nvidia has so much mindshare. If it would just flat out beat the 4080 super across the board, it would be a definite buy.

I got mine for $629 so you beat me by $10. Mine was bought in Feb of 2024 though. I had a discount code i used and i had points on Amazon that i also used that lowered the price. If anyone can pick up a RX 7900 XT for $600-$650 it's a no brainer. GRAB THAT CARD! I used the money i saved on a SUPER FAST 2TB SSD! which gives me even more performance and i still didn't spend has much as someone that bought a RTX 4070 ( Non-super ) lol

I got myself a 7900xt and I do have a 4070 Ti S PC also. Frankly speaking I am not that hellishly impressed with the 7900 xt. My 4070 Ti S costed 820kvs 7900 XT which I got for 700. My 12700k 4070 Ti S PC gives very good playabale exp in most games at 1440p, almost 10% less raster I think, but anyway I use DLSS so it didnt bother me much. Also 7900xt is paired to 7600x Processor again 1440p. I dunno whether its 9800x3d that gives this big push, for an average joe like me 4070 Ti S still even at a higher price feels like a gr8 deal to me Not to add in the 100-130W higher power draw it takes up so thr extra 100 usd would be balanced within 6 months of use for a 4070 Ti S user.

I also went from a 3070 to a 7900 XT and it love it! No more memory limitation. The Adrenaline app is easy to use and a great plus. The card/driver are 100% stable ...after I stopped trying to undervolt it 🙂

Had the same CPU @4.3 ghz with a 2060 and went for a 5800X3D+7900XT MERC Black Edition 2 years ago. (Couldn't avoid buying the card, prices were insane.) The Performance jump of on average 350% was pretty insane, first time firing up Kingdom Come Deliverance with the old settings I had to double check that I hadn't made an error. Went from 45-50 fps average to 200 and the P0.1s went from 8 at the worst to 150.

7900 xt is a beast for the price. I got extremely lucky, got one that was used for a year for $560 locally. Cleaned it up and it looks and performs like brand new. Super happy with it. Thanks for the stats!

I've been running my 7900XTX with an older 5600X. I'm considering upgrading to an AM5 platform for a noticeable boost. Previously, I had to limit the GPU due to high hotspot temperatures, but after installing a KryoSheet thermal pad, it now runs at the maximum power limit.

I went from that 6800 to a 7900xt is was a great jump in performance but I did upgrade my r5 3600 to a r7 5800x3d that helped too. I was patient and waited for a used rx 7900xt found a reference card for 500 6 months ago and sold the 6800 for 350. 150 for a 7900xt is insane. Especially when 4080 supers never got under 900 and everytime a used one poped up it was either at MSRP or sold quickly.

My 7900XTX has been an absolute dream. I've been running it on an LG C2 and it's been great. I'm waiting for the final CES 2025 lineup before I pull the trigger on my next monitor. I'm hoping to see a lot of 32" 4K 240hz OLEDs with DP 2.1 and a 480hz dual mode.

I also had no idea what RayTracing really looks like, in person. I had been gaming on iMacs for the past 13 years and even though I love my M2 Pro Mini I decided to build a PC for the first time and not bother with stuff like Whisky, CrossOver - GPTK etc. I rekindled my interest in tinkering with PC hardware but I wanted to stay around the same budget that the Mini would have cost so not going over 1500€ and looking at NVIDIA cards they would have destroyed that budget pretty quickly.

the challenger model is usual inferior to the pulse in terms of cooling even though the pulse ins't that great. I haven't tested personally the challenger model on that card so I don't know. The asrock phatom cards are good though

This is the video i was looking for! I get almost the same stock performance @ 4K with my 7900 xtx but my CPU is an i5-13600k. Was thinking of switching to a ryzen 9800x3d but seeing the results i think it will be a waste of money! And regarding OC, everytime i try to OC my sapphire pulse 7900 xtx it causes a lot of heat or many crashes. Should have gone with the nitro+ but was too expensive back in early 2023. Think the crashes might be related to this fail 13/14th gen CPUs from intel. Never ever i'll buy a CPU from them again. That was another reason to go with the 9800x3d. Happy new year Fabio! 🎉

I paid $1070 for my 4080 in Jan of 2023. Been VERY happy with my card. I UNDERVOLT it and get BETTER performance then stock using WAY less power. I just played GOD @ 4K & I cap my FPS at 100FPS because of the single player nature of the game & I max out my 4080 @ about 240w. It stay around 60c & makes almost no noise. So happy with my purchase for the past 2 years. I MAY grab a 5080 but not if its priced over $1250. I'm happy with my 4080 FE honestly.

Blender use Rocm HIP on Windows since Belnder 3.0 and Cycles-X. It is one of the first Rocm feature that was available on Windows. The thing that is usually not included in the benchmark is the use of HIP-RT acceleration.

@@AncientGameplays HIP is a tool to port Cuda code to Rocm. Blender Cycles-x use HIP it mean it use Rocm too. Rocm compute was part of AMD driver on Windows since at least 3 year ago. It is the AI/tensor part of Rocm that is missing on windows. Blender do not use that anyway.

My 7900xtx Sapphire Nitro still going strong after 1 year of use, and I never had an issue, learned the Adrenaline software well and its by far the best experience ive had with a GPU, its a a beast of a video card. I had more issues with the 4070 TI I had. So glad I made the switch to team red.

Next system, and an upgrade from the 5800X3D/RX 6950 XT should be Zen 6 which SHOULD have the following improvements: Rework of MCM architecture which includes moving to direct connects between die and no more infinity fabric multiplexer on the IOD. Because of change to MCM architecture, the movement of data between chiplets doesn't have to be converted to serial anymore and the clock speed should get up to at least 4GHz, so 4+GHz parallel transfers between chiplets. Because of the higher clock speed transfers between chiplets and no need to convert data, memory system gets much better and it should take FULL advantage of DDR5 8000 MT/s memory Because this is a far superior CPU architecture, the CPU-chipset link should double to 16GB/s, so new MBs needed to support this, and FINALLY on par with Intel 12th gen. Because of support for much faster memory kits and the elimination of most of the latency issues involved with their MCM architecture, and because of how much memory architecture affects gaming, this will add at least 10% avg uplift to gaming. Zen 6 cores will still be based on Zen 5 cores but they'll be able to shine with the much better CPU architecture. There will be minor improvements. Next part of system will be RDNA 4 top end GPU as long as it's priced $800 USD or less, does MUCH better with AI upscaling and MUCH better with RT performance, which means it should perform about like a 4070 Ti to 4080 WITH RT enabled. Will of course need 32 - 64GB of 8000 MT/s DRAM to take full advantage of this system

Interesting results, another point is that thanks to the greater amount of VRAM and memory bus in the XTX it can offer better texture compression in many scenarios, also the productivity tests have to be taken with a grain of salt because the results in a synthetic test for example are not the same as the real results in practice in the case of video editing when using many effects etc. Also the greater amount of VRAM is a benefit since it allows you to handle a greater amount of effects without drowning the GPU and work fluidly and in different productivity scenarios also the greater amount of VRAM is a noticeable benefit, Nice video my friend and happy new year thanks for posting solid tests and general information about amd gpu.

I am in the exact same situation as you. Got my 7800x3d and then wanted to get a 4090 or even 4080, but the prices are too ridiculous to justify. So i have contemplated getting the xtx since for its value it’s great. Just scared about the drivers and stuff I’ll miss out leaving nvidia. How’s your build doin?

I think its funny that alot of 7900xtx owners wanted a 4090, couldn't justify the price, and get the 7900xtx. I have had mine exactly a year, and I love it. I built a 7800x3d and 7900xtx build.

Which is hilarious because a 7900xtx is not even in the same league as a 4090. It’s inferior in every way. If you’re spending $1,000 already why buy a GPU with so many limitations?

Man I love my Sapphire Nitro+ XTX. Did the underclock from one of your videos. And it eats everything at 1440p ultra. Might’ve been a little bit overkill but I wanted the top of the line after getting a 7800xt and not being satisfied. I don’t use FSR so having that raw power satisfies me

7800X3D, 32GB 6000Mhz CL30, Sapphire Nitro 7900XT build here. Built it exactly one year ago and I'm proud to see this GPU is going strong, its usually overshadowed by the XTX and its nice to see it shine, especially in big titles at 1440p resolution. Any recommendations for games that will actually use its power ?

The GPU price in VN is Crazy, 800$ US for a 7900xt and 900-1200 for a 4070ti super lol. Tet's holiday is coming so I grabbed a 7900 xt nitro+ for 867$ (never care about RT or dlss fsr,... anyways). It really cost an arm for me but couldn't say no to a beauty nitro+ hehe. Nice video bro
