The 7900 XT is a fantastic GPU for slower CPUs. The lower CPU overhead compared to Nvidia hardware makes it better suited for something like a 5600X or slower CPU in resolutions under 4K. Before I get accused of fanboying, I own a 4090 and have no stake in this. Hardware Unboxed has a recent video demonstrating how a 6950 XT is faster than a 4090 at 1080p and 1440p with slower CPUs. AMD has used a hardware scheduler since the HD 2900 XT while Nvidia still uses software which is a big part of the reason why the CPU overhead difference matters.

hey there need your piece of advice, i currently own a 12400f and was considering this card for 1400p. i think the highest upgrade my Motherboard can affort is 13500... but does it really matters? please do note that 13500 and 7700x are fairly comparable aswell by coincidence as listed on the video.. i also use ddr4 3200 which i can not upgrade further

I agree. I bought a 7900xt and came from a 5700xt. Going from low/medium-ish settings mixed in at 70-90fps average to around 150-200fps at 1440p max settings is amazing. Games run so damn smooth on it. I also splurged and got the Ryzen 9 7900x CPU, I'm very happy with my new system.

@@damicoboy22 it's great. Handles any game I have thrown at it no problem. I was able to get over 120fps max settings in Cyberpunk 2077. With RayTracing I got around 80-ish. I want to get a 4k monitor now, cause from videos I have seen it handles 4k pretty decently at max settings too.

Finally completed my r9 5900x build with xfx 7900xt Merc. Targeting 165hz / 1440p. Should be achievable in most scenarios. Pretty impressed hot spot under 70C. Leaving at stock until your undervolt video drops! Keep up the great work!

My room gets up to 27 degrees with my PC under load for long periods of time. It hit a high of 33 while playing Beat Saber for 8 hours one time. My room has never fallen below 18. I am not bothered by the heat. Rather I like it. I could never live in a cold place. I would die. Heaters are one of the greatest inventions of all time. Also, the XT is looking good, but I'd rather wait for the XTX to have more stock.

I'm considering this card for 1440p w/Ray Tracing (when it's on) RT is kind of neat but not always worth the cost (Callisto, lookin' at you). Would love to see more 1440p RT on this one and maybe 1440p RT with like 407(8)0 (NOT)Ti, 7900 XTX and 7900 XT or even like 6900/50 XT vs. 3080/90 vs. 7900 XT @ 1440p with RT. depends on what u have, if u have something like 6800 or better, i would wait, me personally i dont care about rt for most of games, except metro exodus and cb 2077, still very good gpu for 1440p native, and in decent amount of games, entry 4k card

@@Turktien lol, we ended up in a similar situation although at the time since prices were high I was debating on whether or not to get a 6600xt or 6700xt coming from a 580. Payed for a pretty gross price for it compared to its price now but even then it was on sale so I did it. Found myself wanting more as all humans do and upgraded because of the following reasons: wanted to max out my monitor capabilities (1440p 240hz) and like you, good 1440p ray tracing performance. Offered much more than I expected too from this card

Gta is running at the absolute maximum. Put it at x8 msaa on render and x8 msaa on reflections and it gets heavy

I just ordered the 7900 XT. It came up to $823 after taxes for XFX OC Merc edition after $125 in gift cards. I should have it by next weekend. I was waiting on the 7900XTX but have seen complaints about overheating and AMD running out of replacement cards. Figured it would be along time coming before reliable stocks are in. Besides the 7900XT is twice as face as my 6700XT in rasterization and 2.5 to 3 times faster in RT. I would have preferred this card cost $150 cheaper, but it's a better deal than either the RTX 4800 or 4700 TI. The 6950XT was $750, the 7900XT is about 15% faster so $10 per percentage faster not taking into account RT.

It will also be nice to take advantage of my LG 32 Ultra Gear 32inch 1440P monitor at 166 HZ. My 6700XT paired with my 5900X is more or less 80-100 FPS GPU. I have a 4K TV connected as well and I have to use 3072X1728 resolution as it can't drive recent games at 4K60. The other reason I decided to settle on the 7900XT, I have multiple PCs and will upgrade my main PC this fall. Looking at the recently announced 7900X 3D cache for my next CPU. My 5900X will go in my 2nd PC which houses a 3800X which is long on the tooth. I will upgrade to probably the 4800 TI or RX 7950 XTX this fall on my main rig. The 7900XT will go in my 2nd rig. My third rig is just my emulation PC which runs everything up to PS3.

I run mine with a 5600 but i’m locked to a max 120fps in my LG C1. Runs very well. The 7700x (or the 7700) would give you a ton of performance and save you some $$$

Deathloop to me looks like a stuttery mess with similar specs as you. There are no discernible frame rate or frame time issues-the graphs appear flat to me. It's like freesync wont work or smth. Not really a problem in other games. Bethesda games just stutter a tonne for me (in Starfield, the frame rate and frame rate at least show stutter). Is this a known issue? Great video though!

Great set of tests, must have taken ages! Picked up the XT, paired it with my SFF build (Lian Li q58, R9 5950X, 32gb DDR4), and I'm super happy with the overall system performance. At least for me, this card is perfect if you want to build in smaller cases, notwithstanding it's price of couse :).

Oh man, you dont test Path of Exile on first act XD. You should try some maps for appropriate results. Delirium and Blight encounters could show drops even better.

you can get a similar setup by around 3k €. Not cheap but far from the 5k€ you need to spend on intel and NVidia

Thx for the vid, I've been thinking about getting the reference 7900 xt purely because of the form factor of the card to fit in my itx case. With the trend towards larger gpus it's hard to find a decent upgrade from a 1080ti that is under 120mm in height.

So This year I bought all the parts needed for a 4070ti gaming pc (hyped) a 13600k, 850w psu and so on for 1440p gaming, saved up to buy the graphics card later, and just recently got a brand new xfx rx7900xt ultra (not the black version) for 750usd on facebook marketplace and took the deal, never been happier this card is running flawless, same fps on rd2 95% ultra on all settings. any thoughts on the xfx rx7900xt ulta, for me it’s been great so far :)

I use the same as for the 7900XTX but with less voltage. 2400-2900 at 1040mv, +15% PL and VRAM at 2700

@@AncientGameplays Yes I agree, that's why people would be interested to see how big of a bottleneck it would be, since a lot of people own the 5600/5600X. There are tons of reddit posts asking how much a 5600X is bottlenecking a 7900 XT or 4070 TI. At the end I decided to go for a 5800X3D, but some people don't have the budget for a cpu ugprade while trying to squeeze in a higher end gpu.

I played control without RT and i had a lot of driver timeouts, with both 23.7.1 and 23.7.2 drivers, at the last stages of the game...Did you had any issues? No crashes with other games.
