“Go on, get on your couch” - his dad was so patient with him ❤
@endlessmountainoutdoors22 күн бұрын
You are the only one who noticed that. I am very patient with these dogs. I use fear-free reward training with them because Mountain Cur puppies tend to be extremely shy, timid, and sensitive until they mature around one year of age. As they grow older, their intelligence can make them a bit challenging to work with. In this clip, he is testing the limits to see how far he can push me before I touch him. I want to emphasize that I didn't hurt or scare him. I know he would give his life to protect me, and I take that responsibility seriously. I treat all seven of my dogs very well. He has a couch in the garage where he spends most of his time. I will add that I can not whisper or talk sweet if I want them to respond. Depending on the situation its a loud sharp command to break the current focus and get their attention.

@@ohsuzanna3223 We hunt in bad weather down to single digits sunny days, he gets hurt sometimes and won’t stop. Porcupine quills barely slow him down, he’s been whacked in the side of the muzzle with a couple in the mouth, whacked a second time on the muzzle without quills in the mouth and he kept hunting. He lets me pull them out. I gotta write an essay, it’s funny. When I pull them out and they hurt, he’ll wince growl run away for a second, come back and lay down. His facial expression is hilarious. The last one he grabbed he did good for about 10 minutes, just barking at it. When I caught back up and he saw me he grabbed it. He got his whole mouth around it and had hundreds of quills all the way back in his mouth. That was tough, he’s trained to be strapped into my hunting vest incase I need two hands to get out of where we are. I strapped him in and ran back to the truck. The dogs wear GPS tracking collars and I carry a handheld. I’ve had to carry him out on my shoulder once for a paw injury. He’s going to get stitches today at 1500, he’s not limping, no blood on the floors but he’s got a huge gash on the back of his rear pad. He’s walking on his toes and not limping, I noticed him licking his paw this morning and found it. Best thing I ever did was get pet insurance.

Had you read other comments you would see where I explained his actions. There is a rifle in the front seat, he goes where the guns go. He knows the bang stick makes food fall from the trees. These are hunting dogs that will track & tree anything and. I don't tolerate them tormenting black bears but its inevitable to cross a track. Raccoons are one of the toughest animals on the block, I worry more about a big ass male coon in rut than any bobcat, bear or coyote. Still trying to see where “threw” him happened. I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, if I had inflicted pain he would have let me know. I am a professional dog trainer and I started my kennel after my youngest and last of five to move out. I don't work with untrained house dogs that are screwed up because the owner impulsively bought a dog. All five of my kids moved out by the age of twenty. You should stop worrying so much about what other people do in their lives. We are not the same, I would never expect you to like how I live my life.
