Its a cold cloudy autumn/fall day in Great Britain and Covd-19 rules are getting strict. As I am home alone I thought I would spend my afternoon with Mazzy and his seemingly endless collection of music. Ry Cooder his music has never entered my life much. I don't know his music. This video should be an eduction in his music for me.... Thank you for making the video it was very interesting I learnt a lot.

Merci, thank you, for subtitles, too.. J'ai pris connaissance de la musique de Ry Cooder grâce aux Rolling stones ; à commencer par Sister morphine et Performance, puis Boomer's story et Into the purple valley. I bought his first album, 1970, but on the second side, another musician played, and it was not Ry Cooder, it was country music, from Nashville, i supposed ; I was very disappointed, but later, I found the CD, and I felt very happy to hear the second side of this record ; And I have listened to Ry Cooder for more than forty years...

Paris, Texas was one of the most impressive films of my youth. Deeply moving because of the dialogue paired with the music. Thanks for reminding me 🙏

I remember the small thrill of walking out of a record store in the 70s with a few Ry Cooder records in the bag.....as a side note to Ry fans you just may love......Sonny Landreth Live in Lafayette is a wonderful recording!!

The guitar renaissance man. Amazing amount of albums, a lot I did t know about. Streets Of Fire, really, Cooder was on that. I have always been partial to his Latin collaborations. Forgot about Paris Texas. Fascinating array of soundtracks.

Although not a soundtrack album.....l love his work on first Crazy Horse LP. Lends his slide to 3 of the tracks. Gabby Pahinui's first album "Gabby" is worth looking for, even though Ry is not on it. ....still has beautiful Hawaiian melodies and Gabby plays with his 4 sons Leland Atta Isaac's as well. Nice 👍 coverage of all Ry Soundtracks stuff.

Mazzy - A fan as well of Ry Cooder, I would say you covered all the bases on his Soundtrack lps. Including my all-time favorite, "Johnny Handsome", a repeat listening experience on my turntable. Once you "drop the needle" you are transported to another "out of body" dimension with no turning back! Thanks for covering a "Living Legend", saw him at the Newport Folk Festival with David Lindley and then with John Hiatt in the short lived band: "Little Village" in Boston, both memorable experiences. Stay well and be safe! Rich G.

Great stuff, but you know that I’m a big Ry fan too. When you started I said He’ll never show that Gabby album I have” . Hahahaha you proved me wrong again. I’m still looking for Long Riders on vinyl. By the way, Crossroads is on vinyl, got that one. There are a bunch you have I need to get. Last Man Standing, Johnny Handsome, Primary Colors are holes that need to filled. Thanks for sharing and take care

Hi Mazzy , I have The Performance , The End Of The Violence , Paris Texas & the excellent compilation music of on CD. I particularly like The Southern Comfort tracks only on music of. Will have to see if Streets Of Fire has aged well. At the time , it was ambitious but seemed hopelessly pretentious. Music was good. Take Care.

A Meeting by The River is gorgeous..Duh, I never realized Bhatt was playing a Mohan Veena on that recording..My VCLT to you included a CD of Harry Manx who also plays that instrument, make sure to give it a listen. I think you will like it.......love that record with Manuel Galban!!! Not familiar with Hollow Bamboo..gotta look for that one..The Soundtracks are pure gold..I saw Ry Cooder and Randy Newman at Massey Hall around 1973. I don’t recall them playing together at all on that show though..that would have been cool...five star video my friend 👍👍❤️❤️glen kellaway

Didn't know Wim Wenders made Buena Vista Social Club documentary. Gotta say Mick Taylor had the DNA for the Stones in the 70s. Cooder? I don't know. Lots to explore with Cooder! Thanks.

Hey! I love Cooder's collaborative projects. In fact, I probably first heard him playing on Talking Timbuktu. I already had albums by Ali Farka Touré, but I loved the sound of that album with Cooder, it brought a new twist to Touré's sound. You're going hate me. I really don't like Cooder's slide guitar on the Buena Vista Social Club album. For me it doesn't fit. I would pay good money for a Cooderless mix of the album. I was lucky enough to see the Buena Vista Social Club in Manchester when they were on their world tour. I'm so glad I saw Rubén González, Ibrahim Ferrer and Cachaíto López before they died, they were fantastic. I bought Omara Portuondo's first post Buena Vista album last year when it was put out on vinyl. Push comes to shove, that's may favourite of all the Buena Vista albums. Paris, Texas is a marvellous film, and part if its success is Cooder's music. A couple of years back I got my sister an album Harry Dean Stanton released. It's mostly low-key country tunes, but he revisits Canción Mixteca from Paris, Texas. Beautiful song. It's interesting that album with the Chieftains, as, like Cooder, they have collaborated with a host of different musicians across many musical styles. Celtic Wedding, the album they recorded with a group of Breton artists, is a favourite album of mine. Cooder is cool.

I love that Omara album. I picked it up last year as well. I wouldn’t hate anyone for feeling different about an album or performance. See you soon ✌🏽
