Ryan is I believe and as time will show, one of the greatest writers/performers of our time.

jdynorock, it's already showing but you're right, he's continuing to get better. Love his new album (and his old stuff too). Such a variety.

I have forgotten about this gem. Came out right when my ex wife went off the deep end whatever..... My middle kid who is playing guitar now, asked me my fave Ryan tunes. I rattled off my top 10 quick. However this was not in there. My mind was pretty rattled back then. So this song showed up in my suggestions just a bit ago. Go figure.... Serendipity. In 3 minutes it will be 10 years to the day of 9/10/11. The beauty is insane. Thanks Ryan and thanks to Phil turning me onto you in 2005. This is the only tune I ever used a capo on. I am not a fan of a cheater.. Perfection

Wait... You think using a capo is cheating??
@williammurath9740 Жыл бұрын
A "Cheater" is what Jerry Garcia referred to it as on the album Bear's Choice when Bob Weir is going to put his capo on. Still the only song I ever used a capo on

I love this song, as well as many of Ryan Adams songs. They are so visceral, and honest. I very much relate to his lyrics.

Sadly, there's some controversy around him. Still, there's no taking away his talent as a singer/performer/songwriter/artist.

Reagan Miller ,Yes!! No drunk idiots screaming over the music. I love live music but half the time it's ruined by stupid screaching idiots . Oh yeah or even worse those IDIOTS who start a feable slow rhythm-less clap along like where all sitting on the rug in kindergarten!! Sign the petition this must stop... Sorry about the rant.

You are so right. If you've heard ¨If I am a Stranger¨ on Letterman you'll find the same thing...absolute silence in between lyrics and strums. I've always been amazed by the way just a singer and a guitar can captivate an audience like that. It's spiritual.

He's got some great songs no doubt, but he's so prolific and feels like he has to record everything he spits out. I find it frustrating cause the wheat is wonderful but there is a lot of chaff.
@BlindTom618 жыл бұрын
His "chaff" as you put it is a lot better than most folk's wheat...
@duanewestcot7394 жыл бұрын
thats some damn good chaff. In fact best chaff ever. I mean there is chaff and there is chaff. For example, ever listen to the shit that goes for Rock today? No? Thats chaff, real shity chaff. Its angry chaff. tough guy death chaff. Then there is the over produced country Nashville republican wrangler ball crushing jean chaff. schlock.. And the there is bria. ooos Ryan Adams. The second coming of Neil Young. And what you called chaff is the writings of two people miles above the everybody else. Dont like their chaff. Ok, the gjve it to me
@roblatimer43754 жыл бұрын
@@duanewestcot739 ask Elvis Costello about chaff. Ryan's good, but not Elvis good. Then again, that's my opinion, and music, as art, is not about opinion.
