I love all three of Ryan's movies, even though FRUITVILLE STATION is hard to rewatch because of its subject matter. Ryan Coogler's star is only going continue to rise because of the success of BLACK PANTHER and if I know Disney they will/or should sign him up for big multi movie deal soon before one of the other studios grab him. He's one the hottest new directors in Hollywood right now.

USC is not really a school that teaches fantastic technique. It’s best for its networking. I used to work on student projects at USC and I feel like there was always a disconnect with the actual training. In some cases it was unprofessional. But USC is really a country club. Going there helps tremendously with hookups. I’m glad he basically, in much nicer ways, said what I’ve always felt.

It's like he asked what every Hollywood lie was, put it in his movie and proved they were untrue while trailblazing for minorities. (Hollywood lie; cant have a strong female, have to appeal to the majority by having light skinned leads, cast has to be majority the majority, make it appeal to China box offices-took it to Korea instead, etc..) without this film opening the door and exposing the Hollywood lie, Crazy Rich Asians wouldn't do what it did. Exposed the lie and became the 3rd or 4th top grossing movie, in the U.S. of all time

I find authenticity to be incredibly attractive, especially when what's revealed is vulnerability and humility. In every interview, Ryan opens himself fully. He's just a human and that's beautiful to see.

Here's my thing, I feel that one of the U.S.'s biggest exports is 'image' and how's it's expressed throughout the planet. Now with that being said and dealing with the trolls saying this and that, regardless of what people may say about Spike Lee's 'Malcolm X', I'm not saying a film should win but it at least should've been nominated. And that brings me to the Ryan Coogler snub. The fact that he wasn't at least nominated or Chadwick Boseman or Michael B. Jordan or the film for that matter didn't get a nod shows me that the strides we've made are all well and good, but we STILL have a long way to go.
