Wow… So my wife was growing up in Hudson at this time and attended St. Pats too. She said that you did a great job telling the story! Here’s a few extra details, some of them are pretty big. 1) HE PRESIDED OVER DAN’S FUNERAL!!!! 2) He had a few tattoos, which many in the church disproved of. 3) How he preached split the church in two, and many members never came back to the church. 4) He was extremely sexist towards the young women, making many comments about their clothing while at youth functions. No wonder why many of them refused to go to these functions. My wife, and many she knew, did not feel comfortable going to events that he was at. They didn’t like being yelled at for “looking like prostitutes” even though they were dressed appropriately. Thank you again for telling this story so well!
@camilleemerson209 Жыл бұрын
Another little detail: St. Pat’s parish had a school (also called St. Pat’s) where Father Ryan frequently visited the children during the school day. As it was a Catholic school, those of us old enough for Confession had to confess in these small rooms on the school’s upper floor. We would all cross our fingers hoping not to get Father Ryan because regardless of what you “confessed” he informed you that there was no penance and you would go to hell. St. Pat’s School only went up to 8th grade; so he was essentially telling all of us middle schoolers that we were going to hell for talking back to our parents or letting a swear word slip.

I grew up in Minnesota. Apparently, one the guys in charge of helping recruit settlers to that territory got the bright idea to sell to groups and families in Sweden and Norway since the climate and soil is similar in a lot of places. He said if you move as a whole group you will have more sense of community AND everyone can get a farmstead for themselves. My ancestor had 9 sons. So back in Norway they would have divided one farm into a lot of pieces. They brought everyone and a few other families and all worked together. Good plan that insured for more success for the settlers and the guy who had to get the territory settled.

So sad that young vulnerable kids are subjected to adult deviants often who were victims of abuse historically, the Catholic Church needs to be completely transparent, then the healing can begin. Criminal acts must be prosecuted, no more hiding for any ministers, priests or partners in all our churches especially Pentecostal eg Hillsong etc. well done on your research and coverage of this story, it’s the historical context that helps people understand that the grooming of these kids is done during their most formative years. I graduated from Hudson High School in 2004 and this guy was my confirmation teacher. I was actually in his house for a class around the time of the murders. I didn't like him, I was forced into being confirmed by my parents, and after that happened, they never questioned my beliefs or forced anything on me again. He was a dirtbag and people I was close to were victimized by him. There were hard liquor bottles in his house (which I thought was odd) and he claimed to have powerful religious artifacts in his basement (one of his many lies to manipulate young kids). People liked him initially because he was younger and more relatable than old school Father Peter. It's all just so messed up on so many levels the more I reflect on it.

Side story: St. Patrick's church was tall and weird and sloped and directly across the street from the high school. When I was a junior or senior, someone spray painted SLAYER on the side of the church in 15 foot tall letters for everyone to see during morning drop off. One of the highlights of my school career. At least I didn't stay at St. Pat's school, that's a whole other shit show.

This sort of story always reminds me of when I was a teen and my family was attending a Catholic church. The diocese determined that since there was such a lack of boys wanting to be alter boys, that they would start accepting girls. Of course, there were many people against it. Including one of the priests at our church. He had all of the typical reactions and excuses for why it was wrong but he didn't have a choice. However, because of his protesting, no girls were assigned to the masses he was doing. Years later, after I'd left the church and my father was very disappointed with the whole thing, he sent me an article in the mail. The article was a list of Catholic priests that had been recently convicted (I believe, either that or arrested on suspicion) of molestation of boys in their parishes. I was not at all surprised to see his name on that list. They need to really get their acts together if this sort of thing is STILL going on.

She was reading mostly Sephora drops. Tricia’s drops only go on her own website so it made me feel weird. Then in the comments the other viewers ripped into Tosha Mertel calling her childish. Same. I chose not to raise my daughter as a Catholic. No religion is free of disgusting pedos and murderers and just awful people in general, the Catholic Church is just older than most of them and so many more years to rack up the scandals. Cant stand organized religion.!

So sad that this kind of thing still happens, especially in the Catholic Churches, today. Your makeup look is gorgeous as always. Enjoyed the video! Have a great weekend.

uhmm as someone who was raised in a christian family, went to catholic high school, a catholic university, + studied the religion for 15+ years before leaving.....yea. most of what was said about Father Ryan checks out. i mean....not the animal torture or the wild sociopathic shit. but....the rest of it? .....💁🏾♀ sadly, yea. pretty much. 🤷🏾♀ Sara: ....that case was dismissed. me, out loud: of course it was. Sara: _that_ case was dismissed. me, again: of course it was. Sara: i mean, are we really surprised? me, still responding like i'm talking directly to Sara + not my screen: nope. no, we are not. •SMH• 😂🤣🥴😬

Can you imagine having to call 911 to report dead bodies at the funeral home? I swear I thought you were going to say the police thought it was a prank and no one showed up!

I was a fire department rescue paramedic. We once got a call for a possible dead body at such and such an address. We got there, it was at a funeral home

I am a mortician and had to go to the coroners office. Waited for 20 min outside his door for him to get out of what I assumed was a meeting. Finally left. Come to find out he didnt answer his office door or phone bc he was dead at his desk. I will admit that for a moment we all started to call the coroner for a public death ruling until we realized that this would be pointless. So then we had the “so who do we call now?” moment. It was awkward mayhem.

On a lighter note to this story and allt of the comments, it was great seeing Murray get some cameo time in this video. lol. Also I'm from the UK and recently discovered the tv show Chicago Fire where the paramedics wearing jackets with EMT on them. I've goggled it but couldn't work out what it meant, now thanks to you I do. lol. (I'm also trying to work out the differences between the squad team and the truck team if anyone has any ideas??? I think maybe one is like search and rescue and the other tackles the actual fire???).
@BetterOffRed2 жыл бұрын
In the US, there are levels for EMTs. The most skilled are paramedics (they’re able to give more advanced care like intubation). Fire squads respond to all emergencies (car accidents, etc) and Fire trucks carry the tools to fight fires. 🚒🚑
