He did this because He Himself rested that day to memorialize creation and himself as the Creator. You wouldn't celebrate a birthday or anniversary on the wrong day, it takes away from the significance. So God wants us to know about the Sabbath and to worship that day. It's part of the 10 commandments and the only one that says remember ☺️ If you've never heard of the Sabbath, God doesn't not hold that against you in judgement, but once that light has been revealed to you God will hold it against you. Also on a personal note I can't help but tell people about the Sabbath because it's made the biggest difference in my life. I have peace, know God deeper, and have been so blessed by it. I work 6 days a week for myself and my family but on the 7 I rest and let God take care of me. I look forward to it all week long 🩵 and I want everyone to know about it and experience it.
