Haney was up 4-2 after 6 rounds. 7th was supposed to be the round he started dragging Garcia into the deep waters. Garcia blew that up and dominated the 2nd half of the fight. Shocking performance. Very impressive
@nb61757 ай бұрын
Claiming he's mentally fine now because he won is the same kind of stigma as saying he shouldn't have been able to fight at all in the first place. People don't understand this kind of manic energy and that it makes you feel invincible (something Ryan actually benefits from). In the long run that fucks people up (in basically any other endeavor but the arts and sports, and more besides TBH), but so does life in general. He is not the first and will not be the last fighter to have psychotic tendencies (as in psychosis rather than psychopath). The idea though that mentally ill people need to be patronized because they're cripples or something, but if they win they're suddenly OK, is complete and utter stigmatization horse shit (literally both of those arguments). I mean if we ruled people out of society because they are mentally disturbed, pretty much all our favorite things would go to shit and a lot of people with problems would suddenly have a whole lot more problems. Something in Garcia was triggered that will be with him for life. He will have moments of crisis, and god willing they're not bad enough he has to be forced to be medicated against his will. Tony Ferguson went through life being unhinged before he had a massive psychotic episode that probably forced some kind of medical intervention (psych meds will really fuck someone's performance). If it gets that bad, it gets that bad. Otherwise let him deal with his own shit autonomously with all the good and bad decisions that any true freedom entails.

it was so tiresome to listen to the guys at probox basically saying "Haney was such a great champion and Ryan cheated!" The story should be that, yes Ryan has issues but he manhandled Devin and if he focuses on his sport he could be a dangerous champion!!!

Boxing fans get brainwashed over a fighter for some reason. Garcia took out a very good like cambell. He went right at tank , it was basically an even fight until he Took a body shot. With a great trainer he can beat tank. Haney got a nice win against Lomo but it really was even and Lomo is much smaller and older . Linares who is also smaller and older rocked him So why is this such a surprise

I think it's hilarious and yet ridiculous how everyone has gotten a Doctor of Philosophy in psychology, philosophy and the meaning of life when it comes to Ryan. The kid has obviously gotten things going on in his life, good and mostly bad, like most people and is also deeply influenced by Mike Tyson's raw and unfiltered behaviour back in the days, especially post prison time.

Haney considered a p4p great of this gen? Wow, his performance against Garcia reflects non of that. I haven't been locked into boxing for a long while though.
@forwardgrappling7 ай бұрын
i wouldn't say that, he's on the p4p lists due to him actually fighting names unlike a lot of his contemporaries. for better or worse, this is kind of why boxers stopped taking big fights. a loss feels like the end of the world in boxing's current era. obviously boxing isn't what it used to be, but i think we can look at the shades of grey.

You guys all sucked in the hype of Devin Haney. If you didn’t and actually took the time to watch his fights you would have seen this coming. I’m not a Ryan fanboy and that’s why I picked him months ago I picked him because Haney has been fighting much smaller older opponents and that’s why he’s looked good. He’s also been hurt by those same small opponents so when he finally fought a young stronger faster fighter he got rocked. I knew Haney chin was weak and his punching power isn’t good enough to keep strong fighters like Ryan from just walking him down and landing punches. Whenever Ryan felt like landing combination he was able to. If Haney was such a great boxing technician then he would have been able to stop Ryan from landing his left hook.
@andrewreese98027 ай бұрын
If I'm a judge in that 12th round I don't care if I think Haney won it by a nudge, I'm giving that round to Garcia. Ref screwed Ryan out of knockdowns, gave him a stupid penalty when a warning would have sufficed.

I watched the fight and found it super boring compared to MMA. Ryan garcia was just offering his back like a turtle and made it impossible to be hit legally. Atleast the philly shell can be exciting and shows skill. Boxing should not be encouraging this style of fighting. IMHO. All through the fight, I was thinking the UFC fights are so much more exciting than what boxing is putting out.
