Here E.T, let me do it for you... At the age of 23, Ryan O'Neal became the hottest star of the hottest TV series of its time, Peyton Place, from 1964 through1969. In the next decades, he went on to do film work including Love Story, What's Up, Doc?, Paper Moon, Barry Lyndon, for which he won an Oscar nomination, A Bridge Too Far, Oliver's Story, The Main Event, Irreconcilable Differences, and Chances Are, to name a few. In addition to his Oscar nomination, he won two Golden Globe nominations as well. He appeared in T.V projects including Leave It to Beaver, My Three Sons, Perry Mason, the mini-series Small Sacrifices, Bull, Desperate Housewives, Bones, and starred in the series Good Sports. We only knew what the media said. I don't think he was as bad as it seemed. Most of his kids seemed like a handful. His son from his second wife seemed to have his act together and they had a much better relationship than the other 3. I felt kinda sorry for him because I think he tried harder than he was ever given credit for!

I wish the news would just focus on the magnificent work and talent of Ryan O' Neal, and be more respectful to him and his family. "Love Story" was wildly successful outside of the US. It started a whole new wave of tear-jerking movies and literature in Japan, S. Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. The iconic poster of "Love Story" symbolizes an era, making Ryan O' Neal every girl's secret crush, as shared by Mia Farrow in her post (although her crush on him was before "Love Story"). The news of his passing was reported the world over and saddened many. Sending condolences to his family and hope he will now share eternal happiness with Farrah Fawcett.

You would have to be a real lover of the cinema to know all---or most---of the name actors who made their mark in movies over the decades. I had a girlfriend who didn't even know who John Wayne was! When "Casablanca" was screening at a revival house cinema, I took her to see it, but she was reluctant to go because it was in black & white, but she enjoyed the movie. As we were driving away she said, "This Bogart fellow, did he ever make it?"

Sad, feel old because remember Peyton Place, was a youngster. He and Farrah battled drug addiction and so is their son Redmond as well as Tatum, think they were talented but had their struggles with addiction. Hoping Redmond gets through it.
