Why is it a bad thing to have a President who has final responsibility for hiring a head coach, and a GM who has final responsibility for players? Honestly who gives a crap if it is Warren or Poles who has final say in the head coach decision? They are clearly working together but ultimately the buck has to stop somewhere, and it doesn't diminish the GM role. It's just an overreaction (yet again).

Warren is not a football guy. He was brought in to get the new stadium built and has done absolutely nothing on that front so why should we be confident in his ability to find a head coach?

Guys… the stadium (billions!) is running this whole thing. We knew Poles and Eberflus they had to win ‘this year.’. You cannot sell this stadium based on Halas History.

Hats off to Warren for showing Ryan respect at the mic - we know its Warrens final say , i still feel good about the tandem because Warren will lean on Poles a little bit because hes not gona be as energetic as Poles - Warren needs 12 hours of sleep a day 😂

The biggest gap in Ryan poles evaluation is character. Eberflus, claypool, Nate Davis all have one screaming flaw

Who cares who's in "charge" of the pick. As long as they get it right. Warren appears determined to do so. Poles isn't terrible. He's young. Maybe a little humble pie is good for him. He's hit on some and missed on other players. He's ambitious. We need a stud HC, o line, and d line. Then I believe we can be great.

What coaching candidate is going into an interview like, “If we suck, and Poles is canned, do I keep this job?” No, they’re going to be talking about and selling how they’re going to win a Super Bowl. No one gets to that level of coaching consideration worriedly believing they’re going to be fired in 2-3 years.

It obviously will be Warren signing off on the hire after selling it to McCaskey who was just nicked for 8 million? If Warren is who he says he is, Sean McVey and Kyle Shanahon, if available (could become a bidding war and Poles could never get that kind of money from Mccaskey) will be in the mix. This would have to become the ‘28 to 30 points a game’ offense that they should be plus 4 wins (including the last game) for Brown to be in the final mix. Those two big names will want assurances about who the GM will be in the future because of their own buy-in with Caleb. Caleb will be a 300 million ‘plus’ dollar guy if he’s a success and the Bears are winning. Poles would never have that kind of power. But because all of this dovetails with a new stadium, Warren will be the guy.

K Warren Is in complete control of this team as his title Infers. Head of football operations. And as it should be he is the strength and knowledge of the Owners and the staff, with many football relationships with football GM's and football knowledge + relations,with strictly football minds. You can't run the Big Ten and not be a football mind and have lots or relationships with college and pro level people. Warren did a great job of negotiating the new stadium. Yes it took 2 years to battle with politicians and gread, but Warren battled and bluffed his way to a ending that was fair for all. Hiring K Warren to be in charge of football operations was something that George + Ted should have done along time ago, that us fans had to suffer through for alot of years.

@ So the money is now there for State Infrastructure? Because if it is not, they have a lot of selling to get the Governor on board. It will obviously help the McCaskeys make tons of money when they sell. But the Illinois tax payers, of which 99% of them will never see the inside of the place’ should get a respectable cut. Unless Arlington Heights is going to do all of it.

@@346rt Last I knew there was a agreement, if it's official. ??? I believe the site will be Arlington, but I know Warren seems to like the bay site better. But that could be a smoke screen also. 1 person says the Bears are going to sell the team and everybody thinks that. Bears will lose considerable money if/ when Virginia passes, but lots of officials say there's so many loop holes in that situation that they could get around most of that. I don't think they will sell the team, George is only in he's late 60's and the boys Patrick and Brian are VP's and Rich is in Administration. The only thing I know for sure is that the Bears organization is much better with Kevin Warren as the football operations leader. This should have happened after ED McCaskey died in 2003.

I don’t see how Poles keeps his job. Warren didn’t hire him so he’s not tied to his cap. Also if they wind up 4-13 or 5-12 how does he or why should he keep his job? I think Poles is gone at the end of the season.

He has gone through more coordinators than any head coach in the history of the game, what about them? Sorry for Flus, are you kidding me? Ian Cunningham is one of the most sought after gm candidates in the league. He has been patient in choosing where he goes and when. You know who else has done that? Ben Johnson. Its effin destiny. It’s staring us in the face. Just do it! And then announce Arlington Heights and break ground. Can we please join the modern NFL?!
