I do want to chip in on the whole Blitz ruining the moment thing because this is actually really clever writing. 1) in the flashback just before he pushes the cake over, he was seen holding a love letter for Fizz. (It's no secret so many people in hell are gay so checks out) 2) Blitz is doing better but he's only just starting on the road to recovery. It's very common for someone who hates themselves to deny their own benefits. He finally got his friend back, he's healing, but he still can't fully grasp it so he intentionally ruins the mood. It's subtle but really nails the fact that Blitz is broken inside. One flashback and good rescue won't fully fix him.

Yup, Fizzarolli lost all of his limbs and horns in the explosion. The King Of The Domino Effect is a perfect analogy of Blitz0. He went to confess his love to Fizzarolli with that letter and flower in his hands, yet he caused an explosion, his friend/crush being mortally wounded, and his mother dying. It's most likely the reason he feels he has to distance himself from others. Blitz0 calls Asmodeus "rooster" because of his tail. Yes, and since Crimson understands Italian, he is visibly offended by the random lyrics. XD The meowing at the end threw me off, too. XD

On top of the comment about Blitz0 wanting to confess his love, he likely also saw his own dad give the "Wish you were my son" card to Fiz, which definitly didn't help the situation.

7:50 Whenever Blitz says "now" he means "compared to years ago". This whole show he's either introduced himself to new people as "Blitz, the O is silent", or correcting people, mostly people who knew him as a circus imp, with "The O is silent (now)!" It was implied back in S2E1 that "Blitzo" is a clown name, so by not pronouncing the O anymore since leaving the circus it's like Blitz wants to separate himself from his past, and probably can't legally change his name to take the O off of it. 12:38 You got onto Ozzy for eating the candies individually, but right after, he took the entire bowl and just started downing it all at once. (I actually had to see this episode more than once to notice it myself) 21:47 Yeah all the shark and reptilian demons so far have had the ringed eyes, and it's one of many traits Striker has that implies that he's a cross between imp and like, a snake demon. We've seen some crosses between imps and succubi, but Striker's probably the only example we've seen that's part imp, part animal demon. 27:48 He means how Asmodeus looks vaguely like a rooster, more bird than anything else in design, with the long tail-feathers. The potential joke in the use of "c-ck" right after is just a bonus. 35:31 Writing wise, I get your criticism about that joke, but it's still in-character to Blitz as a pansexual always out for "physical affection." 40:15 I'm not totally convinced such a predictable happy ending will happen in this show when the show plays on both comedy and tragedy as two sides of the same coin. By wanting to give Blitz a crystal that can open a portal to the human world, Stolas is actually preparing to break up with Blitz so that Blitz can be free from relying on Stolas and his spellbook. Even then, something still might happen to Stolas before they reconcile; his ex-wife and her brother are still out to extort him then kill him. If Blitz and Stolas still wind up alive and together in the end, there's going to be *a lot* that happens to earn it and turn it into a healthy relationship (especially now that Blitz has learned how to be accountable for his mistakes and apologize to people).

Just wanted to add that circuses going up in flames is kind of a common thing throughout history. But yeah, the birthday cake being the cause can only really be chalked up to Blitz's entire existence being built as a tragic comedy to the point of absurdity. Also, "to break a horse" just means to tame a wild horse, not to actually physically break its legs or neck or anything. And "being tamed" can be seen as an innuendo and Blitz's mind is very dirty.

I do think that if you want to explore the flammability aspect of the circus it has been hinted that Blitz's dad was an alcoholic, chances are there's vodka on a lot of the fabric around the place, lol. Plus dumb accidents that are obviously and easily avoidable like this happen at workplaces all the time, it depends a lot on the quality of the OHS and whether anyone follows any rules/regulations regarding that (which I assume in hell they wouldn't)

7:50 Yes, it's probably dumb on purpose. But even in the pilot, Blitzo was very adamant about the O being silent. Also in the CHERUB episode, when he was talking with Loopty at the beginning. It's always been there, but I don't know why he doesn't just change his name and take the O off. Probably for the purpose of a running gag, regardless of how ridiculous it is. This show has never exactly strayed away from the ridiculous. I'm sure he did this because of the life-changing accident that we saw in this episode.

First KZbinr I see finally asking the real questions! I understand the emotional implications but wow, that birthday cake. Felt like they were trying to cram a backstory they didn't get the time to put earlier by making it fast paced and simple in essence. I loved this episode though, this was definitely my favorite song, I love when songs mess with the atmosphere and active occurrences in the surroundings.

I think it's more of a pacing issue than a content issue. One of my few issues with this series is that they cram a lot of worldbuilding and character into blink-and-you-miss-it scenes. The thing is, it's all _there._ Fans of the series who break down and analyze it frame by frame get to see a _clearly_ well-planned backstory unfold; I think the fact that they were able to predict so much of it through the seeds Vivziepop and co. have planted shows that they definitely didn't _rush_ any of it. But I can't even count the amount of times I've had to go _"wait, hold on, let's rewind and pause for a sec"_ to catch really important world- or character-building moments and details. For someone just _watching_ it's really easy to miss most of it, so to a passive viewer it can feel kind of rushed and superficial. Although in fairness I'm not really sure what time restrictions they had.

Hell fire works differently in viv pops hell. It’s not like normal fire. Has different colors to. Depending on the ring it’s in. Red for pride, Green for greed and Blue for lust. It’s a really cool detail. To have different colored fires for the rings of hell.

I imagine hell doesn't have H&S laws, remember Loo Loo land? Personally, I think the realism isn't the biggest deal. I don't think it's supposed to be dissected that much. The Karate kid for example. Daniel LaRusso spends a few months practicing karate and he basically ends uo as tough as Ryu from street fighter. Realistically, he should've got absolutely crushed in the first round. Though, back to HB, I think they could've combed out the backstory with Blitz/Fizz a bit more.

I mostly agree with your takes for this episodes, it's a bit weird to have so many of Blitz's issues, him losing his best friend, him suffering from fire to explain his white scars, his mother dying and his sister hating him, all lead back to him pushing a guy with a birthday cake out of frustration. It all seems like an elaborate joke. "I lost everything in that fire, my best friend, my mother, my sister hates me now and I have all these scars as a reminder of it..." "How did that happen?" "I pushed a guy holding a birthday cake." I also understand you disliking the sex jokes, they really like putting those everywhere... to be fair, the episode is about the two characters with lust as their main focus. I think it's very intentionally so... even Striker comments on it throughout the entire episode. Overall it's a fine episode, like you said...

the thing with the cake is that there are a lot of stupid accidents like that irl, an entire suburb street on fire because of a single match on a carpet, a guy died because he tripped on the curb from the sidewalk, ..... so yea. for the horses they were outside the tents. Also the silent o in Blitz's name has been mentioned since ep 1 & even in the tv jingle in the pilot. For the jokes i can understand your point but there is a "warning" card at the start of all the ep that tell you next to everything you could or should expect from the episodes, aside from that we aren't all the same we have different tolerances to certain things & that's fine; hell your rents made me laugh my ass off !!!

I hope you are doing better mentally, honestly i hope something has changed and lightened your load in life bc you seem to be letting us know you're not doing well :S Circus burning down are like... very historically accurate though, it was a big issue with their thin coarse tents and lack of stable electricity/light and often lots of hay/straw which is a fire nightmare. An accident ruining your life is a sad real thing, and sometimes its "your fault" even though you couldn't have changed anything. And you ask why would...someone make a joke about making out when they're in an emotional moment and they're bad at being "in their feels" like Blitzø constantly is....? Thats a pretty normal thing people struggle with even irl. He had a big crush on the guy, its what we saw in the flashback. Fizz is Blitzø's first bff & crush. He aborted the love confession bc he didn't feel like he was good enough for Fizz. Its why at the start of the distraction song Fizz is twirling Blitzø around and Blitzø looks fuckin love drunk.

I love this show but I agree that, especially in season 2, they upped the intensity of dick/sex jokes, & most of them really ruin the moment & take me out of it. The humor in this season is a little weaker than season 1, I think. It's a shame but it's not enough for me to give up on the show of course. Just hope they calm down the constant sex jokes a bit cuz it is getting stale

I think it's less because hell is flammable and more Blitzo just has a natural talent for leaving fires behind everywhere he goes for a prolonged period of time.
