To me it seems more like he was confused and a bit panicking, like worried he'd messed up/gone too far/done something wrong. Lord knows Hugh gets emotional pretty easily, especially when Ryan is nice to him, but I don't think Ryan was ready to see him go fromthe teary-snuffily that often happens to a full-on gulp-pause level.

I honestly think that Hugh's crying was real, especially since he's very emotional and sensitive. Poor Ryan was just majorly confused because he wasn't expecting Hugh to have that kind of reaction to what could've been fake/real compliment. Their bromance is very solid, and I think Hugh got extremely happy without caring about whether or not it was real, and accidentally shook Ryan in the process because the crying was real ❤
