I agree with you. He explained to her and also gave examples of it. Her response was that "its My family" but what about her Husband's feelings? He didn't say they Couldn't visit just not so often. A Very reasonable request I think.

I agree with you… I was in a similar situation with my husbands family it was every Friday and I was never asked and it was so uncomfortable to a point I felt so disrespected because I felt forced to have to have them over… my husband would be upset and wouldn’t understand my feelings instead he would say “I should be happy hey wanted to be with us etc….”

Galen is super in the wrong. She keeps saying "my family". Once you get married, your immediate family becomes your spouse and kids. Your parents, siblings and everyone else becomes number 2. Her man and her had plans to be alone for new years. Then her extended family shows up, and now they take priority? She is afraid of saying no to her parents and siblings, but is totally ok with saying no to her husband. Her priorities are all fucked up

I agree with family first - But I think the problem is that her definition of 'being alone' is different from his. Just like anything else, that normally wouldn't be a problem if both parties were aware of it. You can't address a problem if you don't know about it. Communication is key.

@@CurtinChad there is only one definition of alone, and that's alone. He said they had plans to be together on new years, listen to the conversation. She is completely oblivious to how he feels about her family. He clearly is frustrated and has let her know more then once how he's annoyed with them them hanging around around still plays the "oh but, I thought it was OK, they are always with us" innocent little game. Nonsense. Her husband comes first. Her siblings and nieces and nephews should always take a back seat to her husband

I agree with you that she needs to tell her family to chill, but its his job to tell her that, no one is a mind reader.

Your spouse comes first! That is his home, his safe space. He is having it constantly invaded without being consulted about it. Family is important but your marriage takes 1st priority. Maybe make plans for every other week but your spouse should be consulted FIRST and make sure they are on board for plans.

I totally believe him you may say it's wrong for him to have left but she wasn't willing to take his feelings seriously so that was not even gonna be something he could talk to her about. She left him between a rock and a hard place. If this was the other way around we would be throwing stones at him. But because it's the female disregarding the male's feelings people seem to have neutral feelings about it that's just weird. If her family had a legitimacy then I'm sure he would not be bothered if things had to be canceled for something with them. But to just have parents and kids show up last minute on New Year's Eve that is Not far fetch to say couples want to spend it alone is rude.

this reminded me of the tv show Everybody Loves Raymond, and Raymond’s family always coming over to his family just like Gelan’s family. Gelan’s family is like them 😝 and even how close u are to ur in-laws that doesn’t mean they are welcome every weekend coz weekend is family day not in-laws’ day. MAYBE ONCE A MONTH IS OK .

It is a good thing I decided to listen to the rest of this before I spoke, but now I still have the same thought...How is Jacob the issue? He has told his wife on multiple occasions and she makes him out to be wrong for having feelings and not wanting to spend EVERY weekend with HER family. Something tells me she gets to go to tell her sister every negative thing about Jacob and her sister, putting blood before seeing Jacob as being in the right, and poor Jacob probably have no direct access to such support. Even Ryan is like Jacob you need to do this and you need to do that and not even hearing what Jacob has to say. (PS...This is why I would not recommand one person sacrifice being close to their family so someone else can be close to theirs, this kind of things can happen, and this to me says they are not independent enough to stand on their own if things come up and they have to stand up for themselves and/or stand their ground)

Angel Hernandez. Totally agree. Sounds like she's making decisions without asking him. For goodness sake, 1 weekend a month is more than enough time with inlaws. UNLESS husband is very close to them. Just because it's ok in HER head to do something doesn't mean it's good for him. Should have talked to him weeks before. Been there , done that.
