Red Bull Sōlus, one of the most mentally and physically challenging contests in skateboarding, is back for a third year. From the mind of Ryan Sheckler, this digital skate competition challenges 17 of the top pros and amateurs to deliver their best continuous line at Sheckler’s private skatepark, the SC Sandlot. Here is Ryan Sheckler’s run.
On June 6-8, each of the competing skaters were given one hour at the SC Sandlot to film their best line - no music, no other skaters, and no knowledge of who else is competing in the competition. They're just stuck with their thoughts, their time limit, and James Craig, this year's official Red Bull Sōlus timekeeper and emcee.
This competition format, combined with the new blood featured in this year’s roster, has resulted in the best Red Bull Sōlus to date.
Ryan Sheckler has multiple lifetimes worth of experience in the world of professional skateboarding: numerous gold medals, his own TV show, standout parts for Plan B, Etnies and Red Bull, magazine covers, and even his own charitable foundation.
Ryan skates for Sandlot Times, Independent, Etnies, Grizzly, CCS, Nixon, Oakley, and Red Bull.
Dashawn Jordan skates for Nike SB, Toy Machine, Spitfire, Hardies, Bones Bearings, Grizzly, Thunder, and Faces Skateshop.
Our judges, Vanessa Torres, Mike Sinclair, and Jason Rothmeyer, will evaluate each video based on style, progression and creativity.

Tore my ACL and meniscus 3 years ago and it took me roughly like a year and a half to start feeling okay again. You gotta get that leg strength training in ASAP and you'll be fineee

I’m 31 and I don’t do much physically outside of work, and I went out recently and skated a little. I was very rusty, but energy was not lacking. 30 isn’t as old as you think.

Yeah, also this guy is a professional. So he will never forget how to skate. I'm also 33 like Sheckler (I was just born one month ahead of him) and used to skate when I was 15 to 20 yo. I was never good but I used to love it and I could only ollie very well. But I know for sure that today I would be uncomfortable on the board. It has been 13 years since then and too long since I land one single foot on the board. But people who are really good at it and kept practicing all these years never forget. Some guy from my hometown still skate. Let's also not forget that Tony Hawk was in his LATE 30s in the early 2000's and Elissa Steamer was also 30. 😊

I am the same age as Ryan. I’ve skated just as long, but not nearly as hard or good. Ryan is in AMAZING SHAPE, and has clearly really good stamina. I would have been gasping for air about 15 mins in. I’ve been slowing down in recent years because I feel like everything hurts, my knees, my ankles and my body. Things don’t move like they used to. It’s part of life getting old. What you see here is Ryan’s brain telling him he knows he is better, but his body isn’t letting him like it used to. All in all, the point I’m trying to get out here, is if you read this Ryan, you have absolutely nothing to prove to me or anyone else. I would have had just as much fun watching you mess around and not land anything. Thanks for making skateboarding history and thank you for an amazing run!
