UPOL (the maufacturer of the Raptor kit) also recommends priming any bare metal or sand thru areas, then using an adhesion promoter, BEFORE spraying the liner. Also need to apply multiple thin coats, allowing 15-20 minutes flash time between coats. Also, trucks usually don't come with a "factory" spray in liner. They are sourced out by the dealer to places like Line-X, or dealer installed. All in all, good video, and Raptor is a good product. I've done probably 2 dozen or more, with great results.

If I can pay $95K for a new truck I'm sure I can afford to pay a professional to do it right with a lifetime warranty. By the time you add the kit and supplies that were bought it was more like $300 and he recommended using two kits so that would have put the total more like $450-$500. I could see doing this to a wheel barrow, UTV or old beater truck. Not hating on the guy. I'd risk messing up my truck to impress that Girl and spend time with Her.

that actually turned out looking good. I used to spray liner for leonards. You should have taken your bed bolts and tail gate screws out first though. The spray on the bolts usually end up peeling off if you use the bed alot. Another trick is to use a razor blade and cut between the bolts and actual bed so if it peels it won't spread to the bed.

I am in the planning stage for Raptoring the body of my '02 Dakota Quad Cab. I've have a plastic Pendaliner in my bed for over 18 years. I've been in the trades for years. In my experience, for rough use, such as a landscaper shoveling material from the bed, hauling stone, rocks etc. I've found the plastic one piece slip in bedliners to be much more durable than surface spray or brush on products. The spray on is great for grip, but the slickness of the one piece plastic has the edge in ease of moving material. As for the job you just did, it looks great.

Looks good, thanks for the video. One thing I may say is...I've had good luck with adhesion with different coatings & paints using course Scotchbrite pads. All you need to achieve adhesion is to knock off the gloss and create micro-scratches in the surface and they work into the nooks & crannies much better. Wipe down with acetone or surface prep product and off you go. You are then still leaving a coat of paint beneath rather than bare metal, a little extra protection down the like as the liner gets scratched through it's thickness. All-in-all, great job, you guys put in some work.

@ruffxm3 жыл бұрын
Really? OEM and aftermarket line-x jobs spray over the bolts. How many times does the average person need to remove the bed? Basically zero. Leaving the bolts exposed would allow an edge to exist with more possibility of peeling. That's like saying "I wouldn't tape and compound your drywall just in case you need to replace the insulation".
@SuperDcopeland3 жыл бұрын
@@ruffxm I don’t really care what you say. If it’s my vehicle I’d have it done that way. It’s just smart and preparing for a situation if it so arises.

@@SuperDcopeland Yeah, another immature, insecure little boy who can't admit that maybe, just maybe, their idea isn't the best. So tell me, where does "preparing for a situation" stop? I refer to my drywall example. According to your logic, what if you need to replace the insulation? What if a pipe bursts in the wall? Your logic says you shouldn't tape and compound and even paint for that matter just because of some "what if's"? If someone wants to replace their bed, why would they care if the bolts are covered? THEY'RE REPLACING THE BED. So you wire-wheel off the coatings on the bolt heads if you need to - big deal. Instead, you'd rather have a great looking and protective bedliner with exposed bolts for the rare situation where you may want to replace the bed? Do you really think that's logical?

That said you did a great job it looks beautiful and a good coating for the home truck owner. I use this for doing the side of the frame in the wheel wells on the wheel wells themselves I did an old school impala firewall with this stuff, lift kits and suspension parts and if it gets damaged you can easily grab a can and renew and touch up the whole undercarriage every year or two with a can of this stuff, It's awesome.

Go to the car wash and wash the bed, drive home(should be dry by then), rub it down with alcohol. When completely dry(? 20 min?) Go for it. Maybe $40 total in supplies, an hr worth of work. BUT, it will take a day or so to dry completely. (Park under cover or put a tarp over the bed)

Clickbait at it’s finest. And I’m definitely ok with it 🤣
@jerichojoe3074 жыл бұрын
What's clickbait about it? (DIY)- He shows how to DO IT YOURSELF instead of having a shop do it. ($100)- kit costs 100 bucks. (Spray in bed liner)- it is spray in liner. (At home)- he did it at his home (Don't pay lineX prices)- he didn't, he paid raptor prices and online shipping. Every part of his title was truthful and so and there's no clickbait. Clickpay is when you misrepresent your title and show something else. If you're referring to the fact that he said DIY and maybe you were looking for bed liner that you can make yourself then clickbait would be if he said (HOMEMADE) as he did not MAKE or CREATE the liner.

YEARS AGO, I had an F250 that I bought a bed liner kit for. I put it on, but, after a short time I saw it was getting scratched. I was bummed. Some years later I bought a new F350. I hated to pay the $500 but I delivered it to a LINE-X shop & they sprayed it in. 11 years I owned that truck. Mostly, it was used to haul our 3500lb 10ft truck camper. We would slide it in & slide it out. Dozens of times. The day I traded it, I happen to notice the bed lining looked just as it had been the day we bought it. Yeah, I hated what it cost me, BUT, in the end I had to admit it was worth every penny. Thats why today, when we pick up our new Ford Maverick we are delivering it directly to the LINE-X dealer. An F250 makes a read STUPID daily driver. It burns WAY too much gas. The oil co are plenty rich enough. What your girl needs is A Maverick or maybe a Santa Cruz. !

Ordering this kit to spray my entire mustang destroyer gray with the raptor liner will give it a bit of texture the rest of my car will be gloss black super durable stuff easy to work with and covers up mistakes if you do get a run you would even have a hard time finding it yourself just make sure you use all 4 bottles for a even coat all around depending on the size of your vehicle you may need 6-7 bottles but 4 is good for sports cars

Have to ever seen the LINE-X coating? They coat that stuff on for about 4mm of thickness.
@user-ym9wb2mk5e5 жыл бұрын
IT's best to use 2 or 3 "kits" on these. I fully prepped, although it was a used Ram 2500 and instructions said to use self etching paint. I made the mistake of using the cheap Rustoleum etching paint and this Raptor Liner is now chipping in those spots. I will be respraying with 2 kits over this one coat already down, making it 3 total, and it should last very long. Prep is KING when spraying in liners like this, as well as a MASK!

I have neen thinking of using rhis liner on my E150 super when i get it built but the sanding was a bit mich all you have to do is run a scuff pad one of the red ones over to break the glaze on the clear coat unless u have any rust that jas to be removed and zep purple degreeser is the best i have ever used but using it after you sanded down to bare metal with a random orbit sander was a bad idea the promer and metal are like sponges may look good but in a year or too maby longer the rust will make the coating buble up and chip

@@quancast1141 in some cases yes, but in today's society it just makes people lazy. Laziest generation ever.

@@SuperDave44Mag Every generation will come out with new smarter ways to do things that require less effort therefore each generation will 1 up the laziness from the previous one. I don't really think it's fair to label a whole generation when there's a lot of really hard working go-getters who have been instilled proper values by their parents. It really comes down to how a kid was raised and who the person was around and influenced by growing up.
@SuperDave44Mag5 жыл бұрын
@@matthewr2361 your assessment of "really hard working go-getters" is at a minimum these days thanks to technology and networking availability. Kids today can't function unless it's on a screen. There will always be a certain amount of "proper values instilled" kids, but it will never equal the amount of the "good ol' days". Kids back then had more respect for their elders, and appreciated what hard work accomplished. You can patronize this generation of kids all you want, but we both know it's no where near where it used to be.
