I'm glad Ryan covered this album cause it shows older generations who might be quick to judge her music with out even giving it a chance how incredibly talented she is. My dad finally understands why I love Taylor.

It's not like Ryan is old, he is 46,he is super young, not a teen, but young indeed, I'm 22, and i sometimes prefer the Ryan covers than the original songs, also my mom is 47 and she knows nothing about Ryan's existance, but she loves Taylor swift, so i don't think the age or the generation matter that much. 🤷🏻♀️ P. S. I love them both Taylor and Ryan, great and amazing singers, talented AF. ✨

As a Ryan fan forever, I was touched and moved by his reinterpreting her work out of love of music and I was as pleased by her affectionate receptive affection. The opposite of what spawned the Me Too Movement and the Taylor’s Versions’ vengeance. Just musicians waltzing together to the same strains of distinctive tunes.

It's so interesting how these different takes on the song completely change the feeling they bring. Taylor wanted her song to bring a hectic and chaotic feel, while Ryan gives this sings this song filled with desperation. It's different but both are great.

Ellipsis come in three, just so you know next time. And T.S.'s lyrics are pretty much as deep as a puddle of mud can be, when it hasn't been raining for a month. I suppose she just taps into that shallow and semplicistic emotional architecture that ordinary people can easily relate to (probably because she is one of them) ; it just bothers the f*ck out of me that people like you refer to this load of nonsense as an "abyss of longing and awful despair" and to her as a "genius" or like elsewhere stated "the greatest songwriter of our generation". When I read such things I struggle to keep my head from falling off my neck from laughing. Go listen to some Tom Waits or PJ Harvey or Radiohead and see how insignificant and absolutely uncomplicated her lyrics are.

I've always known this song was meant for a sad interpretation, like it was supposed to be a very sad song if only not for the fast tempo. This cover does the justice, seriously.

+Michelle Liem If you think so you do really need to go listen to the acoustic version Taylor Swift performed at Grammy Museum You'll know it's her song for sure
@duanewestcot5256 жыл бұрын
Ryan evokes that drama and release by using a technique the Italians developed called increasing. The song gradually gets louder providing tension in the listeners mind. First the writer has to set you up for the crescendo, which she or he did perfectly. That's the songs first half. Then a pause then the crecsendo to provide drama and finally, as if your sighing in relief a dininuendo. Its an Opera technique, but Tchaikovsky being such a bad ass for his days used it a lot. Well done Taylor or Ryan.

+Royston Aranha Thank you! I feel the same way. I was actually feeling a little bad about the dislike the original is getting on this page. I absolutely love the original's sense of urgency. This version is definitely wonderful, and one of my favourites from this cover album, but it's more like he's so deep in the woods and completely lost and desperate. Tay's is more urgent and fits in with the whole 'I REMEMBER thinking', whilst this isn't remembrance. Anyway, both are fantastic.
@royston47349 жыл бұрын
ibliveinme Thank you. If you have already taken a shot at RAs 1989 the difference you'll see is in the production.. I really loved the bad blood cover he did which I felt TS could have adopted his production n arrangements but agn felt RA couldn't add the hatred while singing the words bad blood. I like his style of Shake it off n the original one too. Both r the winners for me.

+Royston Aranha Same with Blank space. When Taylor sang 'got a long- list of ex lovers, they'll tell you I'm insane' she sounds so bitingly sarcastic and mocking. I loved it. Adams makes it sound sad, as if he's genuinely apologetic about hid insanity. I love both though. :)

There is an importance to this album being produced by a woman and a man, that is to express from seemingly differing perspectives, yet such similar hearts, connected as humans. Taylor and Ryan express what is shared between two lovers, both with perhaps different appearances based on societal standards, and all so similar based on standard-less nature of being ❤❤❤ and the album artwork itself captures the complexities and simplicities of being human within nature that is beyond the abilities of human comprehension.

I love his rendition of 1989. It really allows the listener to hear the emotion behind the lyrics because it's not the sparkly pop version that Taylor Swift released it in. Sure, her version is fun and I do love a good Taylor album. But hearing songs in an unplugged or different light always changes the feel for me. It makes you think about what Taylor is trying to say and it's not covered up by an upbeat dance track. It's raw and emotional and meaningful.

I love both covers. They're both so different to even compare. Taylor wanted the song to portray exactly how she felt during a relationship where there was no assurance. Which is excitement, anxiety and adrenaline. Her sound was frantic and pumping. While Ryan focused more on the pain of not knowing what happens next. He used a more melancholic haunting approach. So really both are amazing and very very different as well.
