Boeing employee here, union employee as well. Mr O’Leary calls it good or bad from the hip, can’t deny the guy that. He runs a very successful airline and we appreciate the support for the max. I just hope when we get back to work we can build quality airplanes for them and everyone else, please know it’s not always the people building the planes that introduce the quality issues. The environment has a huge factor, I hope the environment will be better when we get back vs the last 10 years. If it is not at least the pay and incentives are better. Will do my best as I always have to make the best choices and to build you quality airplanes.

O'Leary said, and i quote "If we could buy Airbus aircraft for 5% cheaper than what they charge then we'd all be speaking French." He made an interesting point in saying that most of the European airlines fly Airbus aircraft so it's easier for him to hold on to pilots who only trained on Boeing aircraft.

You mean RyanAir Holdings Group, which includes quite a few different companies . 8 actually. It’s not 1000 planes, no where near! That would make them the biggest airline in the world! Buzz (74 aircraft) Lauda Europe (25 aircraft) LaudaMotion Malta Air (174 aircraft) Ryanair (320 aircraft) Ryanair Sun Ryanair UK (15 aircraft)

@@TooreenMedia7692 You can quote the 1000 figure again, but it doesn’t make it true, there is no airline in the world that owns 1000 planes. Two of the big three Americans are close to it tho. I gave you the fleet figure, it’s 608 aircraft for Ryanair.

Just for the record - O'Leary regularly flies to New York for these interviews, on Aer Lingus (an airline he has torpedoed many times), in Business Class (which he often claims is overpriced nonsense that nobody wants), aboard an Airbus A330-300 (an aircraft manufacturer which he shits all over in this very video). As an Irishman I respect him as one of our most succesful business leaders, but the hypocrisy he flagrantly shows is frustrating. It doesn't help that the hosts on these U.S. financial channels like Bloomberg often pander to him, rather than challenge him on some of the falsehoods he brashly trumpets.

Remember this is the guy who went to order the 737 Max 8 from Boeing a few short months after the second fatal crash. He said he was doing it because he trusted Boeing to fix the issues. But actually it was because Boeing were on their backside crying and he knew that that was the right time to swoop on them and order 100 aircraft at an absolute bargain price. Because other people were not ordering and even cancelling. He knows most people don’t know what type of aircraft they fly on, so he didn’t give a toss. Those who do show an interest, they try to disguise the Max as something else on the safety card.

If you do a price comparison between Ryanair and Aer Lingus you'll be surprised to learn that Aer Lingus, in lots of cases, are actually cheaper to fly with. Ryanair are cheaper if you're not taking any luggage with you, so if you're not planning to take a carry on bag then yes Ryanair can be cheaper. Aer Lingus on the other hand include a 10kg carry on bag in their pricing so oft times they end up being cheaper than Ryanair if you intend to take a carry on bag with you. My suggestion is to check both the Aer Lingus and Ryanair websites, pick your dates and then see who's cheaper. Oh another thing with Aer Lingus, they usually use a skybridge to board and deplane their passengers which Ryanair doesn't use, they park away from the stand so you're at the mercy of the weather and climbing stairs. Oh and one more thing, Aer Lingus allows you to pick selected seats without incurring any extra charge but Ryanair charges for that.

Anyone would think that most European countries are more or less equally attractive according to Michael's simplistic comparisons. Meanwhile Stansted becomes less and less convenient land-side and the time spent hanging around begins to make the smaller airports viable alternatives. Not necessarily in the case of Norwich UK where departure times make for a poor night's sleep and the airport owners impose a development levy -- or did when I last looked.
