People nowadays need to stop generalizing what it is like "being a pilot" Even within the group of commercial airline pilots there is a huge difference in quality of life, pay, benefits, roster flexibility, working conditions, quality and lenght of layovers and overall "glamour" in working for a low cost carrier as compared to a flagcarrier. There is probably no other profession where people are treated more unequal while essentially doing the same work.

Incredibly, many people do believe flying is dangerous. Quite crazy... although I suppose when something does go wrong with a plane, it tends to be big news and quite serious, albeit rare!

It's not conceited of him at all! He's actually quite correct. The vast majority of the general public are actually quite thick (particularly when it comes to aviation), whether you like it or not!

@@jetsetter797 wow you’re as bad as him. “The vast majority of the public are are quite thick”. A broad statement based on absolutely no scientific evidence whatsoever. Why would anyone but a pilot give a sh@t about aviation? If you board a high speed train in Japan or Italy for example do you need to be an expert on trains to travel on one? Heaven help us if you’re a pilot. Having preconceived ideas about things is not a good trait for someone expected to deal with an emergency with an open mind.
