As one who spent many Summers hiking around Switzerland, I would say my favorite place is Interlacken for hiking, followed by Zermat and Lucerne for city life, culture and cruising the lakes.

Thank you for this! In the early stages of planning a comprehensive trip through the entirety of the Alps from France-Slovenia and Italy-Germany (already done much of the Tour du Mt. Blanc), and these 30 suggestions will definitely make it to the list. Maybe when I return to Zermatt I'll have better weather (it snowed there when I was there in late August).

@@RyanShirley Yup, but it still fun taking the train up and walking around the area (and got a glimpse of The Matterhorn for a couple seconds). Also want to return to the Lake Bled area in Slovenia and the area above Bolzano in Italy. I (and my feet) like the idea of day hikes vs. the multi-day Tour du Mt. Blanc, so I'm sure a return to Chamonix is also in the cards.

Another thorough adventure. Some of those cliff walks and narrow bridges were only for the brave, especially around Lauterbrunnen. The "Ladder to Heaven" at Gossausee looked impossible to me - at first I though that was you on it and I have a feeling you'll do it some day. One thing I love is the way the people of the Alpine region manage to somehow build lookouts, restaurants and even hotels in the most unlikely places.

I flew into Amsterdam for a night, trained to Lyon for a night, then to Zermatt for 7 days, and finished off in Paris for 4 days. I boarded St Antons, Val Thorens and Val D'isere and enjoyed Zermatt the most.

That’s a tough question, either could have good or bad weather. May would be nice, it’s usually green. Autumn is nice for the fall foliage. I think you’ll enjoy either time. Nothing quite like the beauty of the alps!

I always wanted to go to Berchtesgaden. Did you know there’s a legend surrounding the Watzmann? In the legend he was a cruel king, who was turned into stone along with his wife and children… that’s why the peaks are shaped so uniquely.

I've been in Berchtesgaden in the summer 2021, it's so beautiful. Königssee, Ramsau, Hintersee, Obersee, Berchtesgaden, Bad Reichenhall or Freilassing are beautiful! Thats my secret recommodation. Greetings from North Bavaria
