Nice review. Looks like a solid buy. Thanks for taking the time to do this.

Thank you for checking it out! I think it was surely a solid buy. Nothing really detracting about it. I’ve got another one to come here soon and another sword in production so be sure to hang around!

I found out about ryansword about 3 years ago while surfing the web at work, and I purchased their Clay Tempered Katana Honsanmai--Ryan1349, and I must say that I am very pleased with it. It has better quality and attention to detail than a sword that I paid twice as much for. I semi-custom ordered it, changing the saya and tsuka-ito colors to black/red, and I have named it Doragon no chi-Dragon's Blood. I appreciate your honest reviews sir, this is the second that I have watched, and enjoyed it as much as the first on, I also purchased a couple of swords from the forger that I saw in the other review, jkoo. Thank you for your videos.

That’s cool to hear that you still feel that way three years later! Buyers remorse is a real thing and a lot can change in three years. I think their business model and customer service are really what do it for me. I hope these videos were helpful and enjoyable in some way to you!

Great review format. The menuki are probably delrin, btw.

Delrin…that’s a hard use nylon isn’t it? These feel hollow…which is why I assumed a molded plastic of some sort but I could be completely wrong.

Excellent video! I have a semi-custom Ryan1336 in the works, looking forward to getting mine.

I love the option for full custom and “quick build” semi custom. I know other manufacturers allow you to swap out furniture, but typically you don’t have saya or Tsuka length options so I feel this is really cool. Let me know how your blade comes out!

If they build a nodachi or o-katana of certain length they will make a Saya to fit.

Shes got a great sweet sorii to overall length for sure.

Probably could have been ONE inch longer on the nagasa, but it works and draws well. Thank you for checking it out!

Nice sword and clear vid, man. I noticed when you showed the website page they listed a distal taper of 7.5mm to 3mm for this. What are the actual measurements as received? Tasteful piece, man
@StudioGDT10 ай бұрын
You know, that wasn’t on my certificate so I did not check it! I will take a look when I get home. What I can tell you is there is absolutely a variance. I believe what they list on the web are the “approximate” measurements for that style. You aren’t necessarily purchasing the blade in the photo. Each blade is handmade and there is a variance. I have two Ryan1335s and there is a slight variance between the two (denoted on the certificates) as well as the webpage specs. I could see that being an issue for some-but I don’t think those individuals would be looking at swords of this price point anyway. For me-and my budget-I’m happy knowing these aren’t all pre made identical blanks.

Forgot to say thank you for the compliment! I try to keep them authentic looking in my choices.

@@StudioGDT I totally get it about the individual and handmade aspect. Love that. It's just that 7.5 to 3mm is a level of refinement almost unheard of, and your description of the heft makes it sound more like 7 to 5.5mm, or maybe 5.0. Either way, gorgeous sword and happy to be subscribed to see.

Thank you for watching and I agree! I do think it is very elegant! If I could do it over I’d MAYBE shorten the Tsuka slightly. I would love to have this exact geometry in a folded blade!
