How rude! Thanks for saying so, so anybody else in the area can make their shopping decisions accordingly. The place my old teacher used to insist we go to was happy to take my money but made sure I knew they didn't approve of my size. thats weird, i know many people, men and women, all shapes and sizes, who got fitted there. The only reasons they would refuse to fit you is if a: They did't have a fitter currently in the store at that moment for some reason b: You were improperly dressed - eg. wearing clothes that are inappropriate with something that the store may not support that shows aggression or smth, or an outfit that stops the fitters being able to see your legs and feet c: You didn't receive the okay from a supported physio who specialises for dancers. I would love to hear why they didn't fit you though, this is definitely bizarre.

Thank you soooo much. I absalutly love your posts. Learning and laughing at same time.... Not to sadden the moment here but thought youd like a little taste of times gone by. Im now in my 60's and back in the day of the 1960, it was seen as only a dream to become a balleriner ( spelling poor sorry). I so wanted lessons. My beloved parents had to esplane to their 6 year old how money had to be used for food first. Then used to keep us in a safe loving home. Any money left at the end of the week went on Dads treat to us. our little bag of sweets. I wasnt a stroppy child. Mum and Dad were such loving people, and raised us brilliantly. Me and my brothers went to a youth club. Free to anyone. Such brilliant Heart felt people. Knowing that their "family" wanted what their parents just couldnt afford, they did their very best to fill our needs. So we put on a play every couple of monthe for our family and local residents. Always a dance routine. Little bunny hops. The boys did lots of marching etc. Judo was introduced and a profesional... name not known here. He did lessons weekly free. He always put in references to 'ballet and football' "do it as if" type of thing. They molded us into positive people. We may not be able to reach our dreams but Parents and Youth leaders never gave up on us. I wanted to go to classes when i was 19. At our local Club. Id just married. Yes.... young married. But the lessons stated never too late. First couple of lessons so much fun. Arobics really but gental movement and flare. My then, now ex... laughed and mocked. So another dream shatterd. In my 20's i lost both parents. Looking through paperwork i came accross two letters . One from mum one from dad to each other. (dad was a lorry driver and had to be away here and there ) Heart renching reading. How they wished they could be better parents and give their kids so much more. My regret of never putting on ballet shoes is still their. Im an amputee so.. not likly now with my lovely one leg. LOL.... But my thoughts now vision those letters. My dream was their dream too. Watching your thoughts and explaining so much really has bought back some fond memoriew and now i understand why our yourth club changed so dramaticly. Foot ball and skipping replaced by adventure into another world. They filled in some missing peases in our lives as bes they could. I have a granddaughter who went to classes for 2 years. only 5 then. she was brillliant and dedicated. She didnt want to go anymore. But did say she would keep her shoes as they were special. Shes 10 now and still twirls and wlks on her toes. Its sstill there but its got to be her dream and not Nansz. Oh well..... i was going to delete as not quite what i expected to flow as i type. But my memories popped up and I hope your ok to let me leave them here. Mnay thanks again..... Next video please. C from Hereford England.

@@justme-qd6qb yes, and I am an Aussie. To claim that we all say it like that is wrong. The French language actual have strict rules on pronunciation, and have the Academie Francaise which ensure the French langue is used correctly. It is rude to use the incorrect pronunciation due to this fact.

I wore Blochs back in the early 90s, then quit ballet. After watching your videos I started believing that they might have been the wrong fit. Capezios were more comfortable but because I have a very nice arch, I bought new shoes too often and it got too expensive for my low-income parents. Blochs hurt like hell. So, I stuck to just jazz and tap.

As others pointed out, yes, you say it right (i.e. like the French), foo_eh-tay. And I agree that because English marks the plural orally, it's acceptable to add the s (which is silent in French). Foo_eh-tays. (the foo_eh is in one go. fooeh). I'm also of the opinion there's a balance between being right and being understood ;) but kudos for saying right! Maybe others will love it too! And then you can properly say crème (pronounced krem) fouettée! hahaha (whipped cream)
@alexianem6223
@alexianem6223 2 жыл бұрын
To say it like a french, you don’t have to say “-tay”, that’s a different sound. But I can understand it’s hard to pronounce because this sound doesn’t exist in English. French can’t really give examples, all they can do is giving you some words in “-é” and ask Google to pronounce them. 😭

I’m from Australia and can safely say that is not how we pronounce ‘fouettés’, let alone how we pronounce most words. These girls have a pretty strong regional accent that is native to the North East Coastal regions of the country. My partner was brought up in that area. He’s in his early 40’s by now and has lived in the more cultured Southern states for over 20 years, but if his sister calls. He forgets himself and slips right back into speaking Australian strine. I think it’s our equivalent to the US Southern states accents. Fouettés are pronounced just as the French have always pronounced them.

I'm Australian and I've only ever heard people use the French pronunciation, but from the comments it seems like there are a few ppl who also say foyettay so it might be a regional thing? The Aussie accent does have a tendency to overtake loan words over time so I wouldn't be surprised if we all end up saying it that way eventually
