I’m judging off of her poor explanation of the procedure she was doing, not seeming too incredibly knowledgeable/not being good with patient communication, & poor medical hygiene (touching things outside of what would be considered the sterile field with the same gloves that she inserted the IV on him). I’m a RN, I work in the ED, & my personal style is goth... that doesn’t affect my job whatsoever, no one’s appearance or style affects the way they perform their job. Judge them off of the work they do, something that actually pertains to their job rather than something silly & superficial like what they’re wearing.

TwinMom 2014 From a medical standpoint it’s considered unhygienic. We’re taught to immediately be changing gloves if we touch anything outside of what’s considered the sterile field. It’s not about the fact that he lives in his house every day & is fine, any sort of microscopic bacteria getting into an IV injection site is enough to cause an infection which is why we (nurses) are taught not to do that.

Us (knowledgeable nurses) understand that the likelihood of him developing sepsis due to a in home temporary IV is impossible.
