Got this saw new at home depot and mine came with an oregon chain. The replacement is oregon r45. ~$13 at HD and Amazon. That 14" combo set is a great price though. Have to try and convince myself I don't need it 😁

Just bought this Ryobi chainsaw yesterday. I am going to use it to clear out heavy brush and prickly trees in our church back lot starting tomorrow. It feels great in my hands. I am ordering the Oregon stuff tonight. Thanks for the tips.

I got it the other day and the length it was 14 1/2" from the bucking spikes to the tip of the bar.

I like to note that the Ryobi uses a Oregon chain and bar. Maybe it is using inferior coating for mass production? Hate to tell you that a bigger amp hour battery just makes it last longer.

Thanks for that, I'm keen on upgrading my bar from 12" to 14". Still going strong for you? I don't have any HP batteries, do you feel any difference with normal and HP? What do you reckon of even going to 16"? Keep up the good work mate!

Sorry, another question, you said your battery port has the additional part to accept the HP batteries.. mine doesn't have this. Do you have a pic so i can show ryobi? Thanks

Just curious about you holding the trigger lock the whole time your cutting. Do you have to do this? Thinking about getting this saw and doing the upgrade. Thnx

No you don’t have to hold it the whole time

I have litterally cut down an entire 40ft tall silver maple tree down with that ten inch ryobi with those awful 1.5 amp hour stock stick batteries. The trunk took a very long time. Thats like bottom of the line of cordless chainsaws. So im all about battery powered yard/work equipment now. Although it really sucks that the batteris dont last longer.

I have battery’s that have lasted over 10 years so it’s kinda odd when they go out in my experience

They sell a bar and chain on Amazon and I think also home Depot. Look closely at the bar and it will be on there for the part numbers.

So, where did you get the new hard chain and bar cover? Do they sell those at HD? Your 12"er won't cover the new 14"er, will it?

I bought the case at Direct tools it comes with the plastic box but it won’t fit so I just use the chain cover

@codywhite the sprocket size is different and the chain is a bit thicker gauge. I found the sprocket on Amazon (can’t remember the size) and the chain is just a regular Oregon 14” low profile.

The length of the bar doesn't matter nearly as much as the # of teeth per inch. If people just knew how to buy chains they'd be so much better off.

I would say that’s it not a true statement I got a longer bar so I could cut thicker wood more teeth would be nice but I just wanted more length thanks for commenting

@@RYOBIKING more teeth means more drag, wider teeth means more drag. You don't want that if you're already on the verge of stalling the saw and sometimes the increased RPM from less teeth can actually make it more efficient and cut faster.

I think that they will, it's not the saw it's the chain and speed. Better safe than sorry.

@@mrspin3315 the manufacturers even say that they will not. I am not saying that they won’t help just saying that they will not stop them. Yes speed ect counts but you have to remember that an electric motor produces 2x the torque that a gas motor does of the same size. The electric saws just keep on cutting when a gas saw stalls out. I have had a 59cc Stihl saw hit my chaps (hit a spike in the tree and bounced) and stall very quickly and I have had a 30cc equivalent battery saw that I was experimenting with cut clear through the same pair of chaps on the other leg and didn’t even bog down. Just something to remember. I hope neither of us have to find out with our legs in them 🤠. Be safe.

The organ bar and chain are a us made steal it seams to have stayed sharper longer in my experience 🤷
