No problem, thanks for the good words and Dude.... right? I think I first saw this just by scrolling all the Ryobi stuff on the home Depot website. They would sell so many more if they just put some next to the tools section as well ....

I would have loved to see the inverter tested with some more real-world loads. For example, will it run a fridge? (usually 200W or less, but a hard starting load)

They have a 1000W version of this that can provide 800w on A.C. (or maybe it was 850, I don't recall). The D.C. outputs are about the same.

You have to press and hold the button down to turn it on or off. This keeps you from accidently turning it on or off. I do wish it had a pure sine wave. Oh, well maybe in version 2.1.

The reason why it's an automotive section of Home Depot is that you can hook this thing up to the battery of your car to power up your appliances and tools
@TRYtoHELPyou
@TRYtoHELPyou 4 ай бұрын
@@FACB25 while I understand that, it also has an 18v battery use as well. So bizarre that some people who look in the tool section at Ryobi stuff won't know this exists or find it. They have their displays set up as if they are trying to sell their products, yet this one is just tucked away. It can be both places with a note card saying something like, "empty shelf? I may be in the automotive section, isle number X, take a look there or see and associate."

I wish all ryobi tools were in one spot. However home depot places them according to job task. You have plumbing tools, vacuum, air compressor, framing guns, and countless other things like chain saws and such in the gardening section.
@TRYtoHELPyou
@TRYtoHELPyou 10 ай бұрын
It robs the ability for discovery for those browsing the tool section. A simple printed thing in those sections could say "need a tool? Head over to the tool section stall 1b for this tool". Right? I get it but the way they do things now leaves for lots of room for improvement. Currently they answer, "should we put the most expensive stuff outside in direct sun and weather? Yes!" And thus you see riding mowers and side by sides soaking up the sun and rain, meanwhile bags of rocks or plants are under cover.

wondering how long it would run a fridge in a power out situation
@TRYtoHELPyou
@TRYtoHELPyou Жыл бұрын
Unsure if it could start a fridge. A small one? Do the math on the size battery you would use. For instance a 100 amp hour 12 volt battery has a theoretical 1.2 kilowatt hour capacity. After losses it may have .75kWh? Maybe that size battery could run a small fridge for a few hours max 8 hours I would say, that's without opening the fridge. This is not for fridges unless it's small and you have a massive 12v battery bank. None of the 18v batteries are worth considering for this case. The battery I use has around 3 kWh and could run a fridge easily for several hours but with a larger inverter.

You should maybe try Tums or Pepto-Bismol. Although what I’m waiting for is the jumpstart inverter
@TRYtoHELPyou
@TRYtoHELPyou Жыл бұрын
Heh, no joke, I have used a 20v battery directly to my cars 12v battery to get it to jump start. Probably not the best but after applying the voltage it drops quite a bit... 200 bucks is worth it to some to do it the "right" way I suppose.
@antonioreyes421

I want the 40v version but I can’t find an excuse to move to 40v line. Mostly landscaping tools, which I don’t need at the moment. If I had the budget, I would get the 40v Shop Vac or the new 40v Whisper Fan and get the inverter but i would need to dump a lot of cash just to make the 40v inverter worth the buy.
@TRYtoHELPyou
@TRYtoHELPyou Жыл бұрын
This is a beautiful problem to have! Yeah, I've been a bit burnt by Ryobi also. And I too have no excuse to dip into the 40v stuff. Ego tho, the extra voltage and build quality seems worth looking into when/if you do find yourself in the market for an upgrade.

Hey I know this is from a long time ago, but I camp with a 180 and 240W battery for my CPAP. The 180 can do 2 nights (no heater) and the 240 can do 3 easy. Since this pulls 300w and you can bring extra cells, I can imagine this would totally work (again, no heater)

As far as I know, yes. No reason it can't. The USBC has a 15v output which is what the switch takes. It's just not the full amps the switch can take so it will power it and charge it slightly slower than the regular brick that comes with the switch.

Annoyingly, Ryobi do a few really nice One+ powered inverters, but only for the 120VAC market. If (Like me) you live in a country with 240VAC as mains power you're stuck with just the old 150w "Cordless Battery Inverter", or it's gen 2 replacement 150w inverter that cost's almost twice as much, yet only really adds the ability to charge the battery (Really slowly) via a USB C adapter or (unbelievably slowly) via their gimmicky fold up solar panel kit. For the US they make a monster 1800w pure sine "Power bank" that can take up to EIGHT hot swappable One+ packs, and can give you close to 1.3kwh to play with from a single set of 8 x 12Ah packs, but it will run uninterrupted for as long as you can keep individually swapping fresh packs into it, so if you're a labourer who has a tool bag full of One+ packs in their van you could run it for days if need be). But they don't feel it's worth rejigging more than the most basic models from their range for 240VAC. 😕

I think that home Depot should have one section that has nothing but Ryobi so if you go to one section you can look at every Ryobi tool even if they just had all the displays in one section on the wall that would be okay I go to home Depot a lot and I look at the Ryobi new things and I always have to go around the store trying to find if they have something that will be or not so you're not the only one that thinks they should have all the Ryobi things in one place and it wouldn't take a lot to do this it would save time and it would save money and a lot of space 2 but the biggest benefit would be for the customer

I won't buy Ryobi from now on. Don't get me wrong..the tools themselves are really good. Better than Milwaukee (whom of which, I hear, owns Ryobi) But this new battery charger one plus? They DELIBERATELY made it so you have to keep buying and buying the charger..which is costly. How? By placing something in the motherboard that causes the chargers to fail if you leave them plugged in a wall with no battery..or if you leave the battery charging for too long, or it will not "see" the battery if the battery has drained too low..which can happen if you're living in Arizona, just from the battery being in a hot space. Like a truck bed or a garage, or worksite gangbox.. Now you gotta treat the charger AND batteries like crystal glass or you're gonna be spending 60 bucks for batteries, or over 100 for a charger..making the entire product, a friggin money grab. In the mean time, Milwaukee, which are not as good, but cost more, don't do that.

Sadly RYOBI dont do any real testing of there products or there designers are just stupid ? If you mount this to any surface and install a 18v battery for power , you cant get the battery backout when it dies , BECAUSE YOUR FINGER WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE BACK BATTERY RELALEASE TAB , ITS TO CLOSE TO WHATEVER YOU MOUNTED THE INVERTER TOO ! THEY NEED TO REDESIGN SOME NEW METAL TABS THEY SUPPLY FOR MOUNTING IT , THAT GIVE MORE SPACE BEHIND THE DEVICE ATLEAST 3/4 " MORE SO YOU CAN ACTUALLY REMOVE AND REPLACE 18V BATTERY WITHOUT HAVING TO REMOVE INVERTER FROM YOUR MOUNTED SURFACE OR MAYBE , you got baby fingers and reach the back release on the battery ? Easy fix but Ryobi should have caught this in design and development but NOPE
