*This is exactly what I needed for trimming the edge of oak boards **MyBest.Tools** I also used the disk to round edges while building an oak - walnut cabinet.*

Very helpful, Dave. I got a Ryobi BD 4600 from 2008. Blue in color but it seems very similar.

Thnx. Just shows you MUST watch MANY reviews before making a devision. I just watched 1 that said the sandpaper was hardddddddd to replace but you just showed how easy it actually is. Well done

The light green border plate can be removed? does it interfere if i sand long boards that protrude both sides? thx

I will say, Ryobi has come a long way in the last 10 years. Lol. Back then, I’d soon as burn my money in a pit fire then buy a Ryobi tool. Lol. Now I own quite a few. For the price, they’re pretty darn good

What size bolts do you use to secure the sander to your bench?

Hey mate, I'm looking at getting into ring making and need a sander for metal, reckon this will do the trick?

Yeah it should work fine for that

I’m a little weary on buying a Ryobi sander . I bought their bandsaw and it is a waste of money. The motor isn’t strong enough and the 1/8 “ blade can’t hold up to thicker wood.
@davethewoodworker10435 жыл бұрын
Well it's not made for commercial use, but it's been good in my shop. Now the bandsaw they make, is for hobby use.

@davethewoodworker10434 жыл бұрын
It has a 36 inch belt

Dave the Woodworker ok good. Cause I didn’t know if they meant it’s 36 inches from the top of the belt to the base when the belt is vertical or..

I want to add, the drive belt stripped, not the sanding belt. Total Junk
@robertwood82817 жыл бұрын
The biggest piece of junk I have bought in a long time. It lasted me 20 minutes before it stripped the very cheaply made belt, the table was horrible. Has no power. I tried 4 different sanders (this being the absolute worst) I ended up with the Harbor Freight sander, Half the price and 10x the power.

Robert Wood Sorry it didn't work for you, it has worked fine for me, for over a year. But I only use it on the weekends.

@jamesmoore33465 жыл бұрын
@@davethewoodworker1043 I bought the ryobi sander little over 3 years ago. Yeah, the belt gave up about 7-8 months into it. Found out that you need to properly set the belt when you unbox the unit, not a major issue for me. New belt was around the 6.00 range, arrived quick and i haven't had any issues since. I did make a 'do-nut' adapter for the vacumn port as all my sanding machines are on one bench and I have a single vacumn under the bench so which ever sander I use I can just 'plug' the vac hose into the sander and get the job done. I have 4 different bench mounted sanders on that bench and they get used quite regularly. I just beat stage 3 lung cancer but didn't beat the chemo and radiation. They wont let me work, kinda a forced retirement, it sucks. I have a 12X16 wood craft shop out back and I do believe it was not for being able to 'work' in my little shop I would be locked away in a nut house by now. You just can't work 45 years and stop all at once because of health, takes some getting used to.....lol
@Hanschr13135 жыл бұрын
@@jamesmoore3346 Hope you get better soon. If you sand be sure to wear a mask so those lungs don't get any worse.

@@Hanschr1313 Thank you for your response. I'm slowly improving, just takes time... Yeah, I do a good bit of sanding. I modified a small squirrel cage blower to make a dust collector. It works pertty good. Also use a pleated filter attached to a standard 20" box fan. I have talked myself into the 1hp dust collector from harbor freight and plan on converting it to a two stage, (the little blower I'm using is only 1/10th hp, not really powerful, I have to put the intake pertty close to the work, LOL.......

Anyone can do an unbox and set up by following instructions. I want to know how effective and efficient the machine is . Not this. I can find this out by playing. There was no comparison or real demonstration. This was no genuine evaluation. If I was a Ryobi Rep I'd have cringed.The review misses the mark. Does this reviewer have any credentials to make him a sound reviewer? I think not. Don't get sucked in people.
