It was free. POS. Had to replace the carb. Tweaked the new carb was running fine, set it down running and stalled. Took a million pulls to start it. My daily driver is a 20 yr old Echo PB 600! Love it. NUFF SAID! So frustrating.

Yep yep your right about it being junk I got one years back and the pull cord broke to replace a cord one needed to buy the whole housing cord and all so in the yard it's been sitting till a friend of m8ne gave me another he had just sitting he said it had an issue also but I managed to get it going so n9w I got 2 AND MANY PARTS I did buy the newer modal and its better designed these things are sopsed to be cheap The newer modal as aposed to the older is better lots fewer problems still made by homelite just need to put more time into into the RnD thing a good reason for not seeing so many of these ryoby blowers out there

Ahhhhhh! I too had the same problem with my Ryobi backpack blower. The recoil locked up and would not pull. After taking it apart the recoil worked just fine, but would not engage the flywheel to start the motor or so I thought. Putting the unit back together was a nightmare. I got fed up and I took it back to Home Depot to their repair department and let them fix it. I was told that the piston inside the motor had chunks of steel from the piston floating around inside and possibly locking up the unit. I told them to throw it in the garbage. I paid 530.00 which to me is a lot of money. I used the unit maybe six times in the summer and I got two years of use from the unit. You do the math. I hate Ryobi and I now boycott all Ryobi tools. I'm especially pissed at home depot for carrying and selling poor-quality products and taking me for a sucker and abusing my loyalty. Shame on them for accepting product and advertising revenue in exchange for shelf space from Ryobi and again abusing customer loyalty just to make a buck and a sale. I hope the Home Depot Product Vice President reads this as I will tell all my friends. ABSOLUTE JUNK, DO NOT BUY!

Good to know to avoid these. I've got an old Homelite Backpacker that has some issues, still dripping oil even after heli coil and new gasket for the crank case cover, feels like it's low on power, etc. Decided not to put any more time into fixing it: it works ok enough for now, and I'll just keep my eyes peeled for a more pro grade unit that's less of a pain - the difference in usability between it and my nice big Echo trimmer is striking.

Any machine is good till it doesn’t work. I would keep my eye out for echo, Redmax/Husqvarna. Stihl is good too but I’ve run into parts issues since I’m not a dealer. Sorry I missed this comment, still have it or you moved on?

@@pattayperformance oh I still have it, I work from home so my rate of power equipment acquisition is much lower than yours 😁 Was hoping for a unicorn deal on a hart cordless today at Walmart, but too early for those apparently, though I did pick up a hedge trimmer for attachment-capable string trimmers for $20 which was a nice deal. At the rate I'm seeing price drops and popularity increases in the battery stuff, I may just end up with a 40v+ battery machine as the backpack blower replacement. (There are some sweet battery backpack blowers but they're even harder to find on the side of the road 🤣)

Thinks run good bc you stay on top of them as well choosing to buy a quality piece of equipment. yah I hate 2 cycle, but recently just got a free homelite weedeater, they said it worked but , while looking at it. yah , fuel lines rotted, primer rotted. I replaced them and it was good. but then the gas lines kept on melting. dohh, I had another type and repalced one of them but didn't have anymore. but got it going. for a few hours. untill the gas lines melted. (cheep ebay stuff I guess) anwasy I have some more coming. and on the next day, my own weedeater throttle cable broke while I was using it. I was able to swap it with another one, too long, but worked while I ordered a replacement that gets here in a week from ProPartsDirect.net
@pattayperformance3 жыл бұрын
I would have used that broken cable a perfect excuse to go battery! Fuel lines melting that’s a new one…is it missing a guard?
@dfields95113 жыл бұрын
@@pattayperformance it runs fine always starts easy( yes a MTD 2 cycle trimmer ). new throttle cable is like $5 no big deal it looked like it rusted thru. no guard missing. the fuel line melting is likely because the cheep fuel line I had from eBay that by brother in-law gave me to fix his hedge trimmer. it was just left overs from that. but that was over 1 year ago. The Solid line I used worked fine, just that I didn;t have enough. It was the Tygon lines that melted. or fake Tygon lines on eBay. if my Trimmer ever goes and it isn;t an easy repair I might go battery. but I am not there yet. I have some thick weeds/brush in back of my house on the hill that I use the gas string trimmer on also.
