Dude, I learn something every time I watch your videos but every now and then you talk about something that just makes the right kind of sense for my brain and I get it. I get so confused when adjusting the high and low screws on my trimmer and never really knew exactly how to set them. Thank you

Awesome Len, I'm glad my ramblings do actually make sense to somebody...lol

Great video. Teaching us how to work and think . Screaming, crying and smashing it on something feels good, but it doesn’t fix it. LOL. Take care

I caught that new intro, even if no one else did! 😉 Oh, that poor B&D Workmate! Looks like it’s done its fair share of hard work. Working on a Homelite XL Automatic Oiler chainsaw. Thought I had it all restored and ready to go but just couldn’t get it tuned. I had done the pressure/vacuum testing on it and it seemed fine, but had it apart again and with a tip from Leon Crouch manipulated the crank ends while pressurized and there was a very small intermittent loss. Waiting on replacement seals for both sides. Hoping after the 12th time taking it apart I finally get a consistent tune. Always those air leaks! I suspect most people who can’t get a carb to work even after a couple of cleanings either have an air leak or bad carb check valve. 😉🔧

Air leaks (vacuum leaks) are common on older machines for sure. That workmates is still around too. I have a horizontal metal bandsaw mounted on it now.

Excellent video brother.. I'm fixing to pick one of these up after years of fighting with extension cords for electric trimmers, lol. I work on small engines everyday so I'm not clueless but you gave great detailed info..

Bought the exact same one (Ryobi HT 26) In 2011 still trying to tune it. Great for working on the biceps just not good for trimming the bush.

Watched this video again just because. ;-) That carb was so difficult to tune, if it had been me I would have suspected an air leak. I'd have given the engine a couple hours to cool off and tried a restart to see if it stayed on tune or became difficult again. If it changed then I would have sprayed the whole thing with carb clean or similar to confirm a leak and gone on from there. I'm constantly trying to refine my diagnostic skills. What do you think?

It likely could have had a very small air leak. If I can tune to compensate I usually will. Probably not worth doing crank seals on this machine though.

The fuel has to be just right for them to start right up quickly. It's not always easy to hit that sweet spot in the carb tune though.

What size are those fuel lines? I need to do the same. Great video.

I don't have that info on hand. I typically have an assortment and just grab the stuff that fits

Did your daughter bring in her dinosaur for an ultrasonic cleaning before she got out the paints? ;-)

Funny, I've never seen a filter when there is a mesh screen. Mabe it's a thing.

That much carb cleaning, was it from china? Forgot to ask.
@randomwrenching2 жыл бұрын
It was aftermarket, likely China made.

A good one that I've heard before. Pay for the years of experience, not the minutes of time spent.
