How's Embout a dang ol' Updated TOOL-TEST... Mr. Vinn..? I've got a few Ryobi 'Track Saw' set-ups... Powered, and new 18v... Looking at the new Milly-Walkie-Track-Saw kits... Definitely HELLA more expensive... than their first projected $ m.s.r.p. $ a few years ago...!!

Most of my subcontractors used either Porter Cable or, Ryobi. Ryobi always held out longer than Porter Cable by far, and is largely why I eventually began to incorporate Ryobi into my tool collection. I have not been disappointed!!!

I bought into the Porter Cable 18v platform when if first came out. A few years of use, nothing bad to say about the brand... till they dropped 18v and went to 20v. No support for 18v. I then switched to Ryobi as they advertised 18v forever. Today I have more yard tools from Ryobi and love them. BTW, I still have my Porter cable tools, just use Chinese knock off batteries.

I have 32 Ryobi tools now, I work in aerospace professionally, and use almost exclusively air tools on the job. But at home on all of my own projects, primarily woodworking, metal fabrication, and working on vehicles... I chose Ryobi. I recently just experimented with buying some Milwaukee tools to see if the grass really was greener on the other side... And in some regards smaller size packages, they do have some merit and being better tools... But price comparison wise, they just aren't worth the money unless I was relying on them daily.

I'm a contractor and I use Ryobi every day. I put them through the paces too. Why not buy a whole kit of tools with 2 batteries, than buy 1 drill for the same price. If they get stuck working with me in the rain then I don't get all upset that my tools are getting ruined. If I drop it off the roof,oh well. Ryobi started out as high end machines, too, by the way. I stick with my Ryobi and always will.

Very cool indeed. I went on KZbin to search out if you ever did a review on ryobi pex ring clamp tool p660 ... I didn't find it... but I did find this... I purchased the p660 for this soda dispenser I'm working on, so far it's been great... but haven't done full testing yet. I can say one thing though, I used it on some of my hand tool crimped rings, and it tightened it more... that to me is a win. I just wish it had a cutting feature like my hand tool one has... it was just make it easier.

I'm a mason. I started buying ryobi tools almost 20 years ago. They were cheap and easily replaceable. I still have some of my original blue tools. As well as many new green ones. The new ones are strong fast and efficient. And the old blue ones just won't die.

I'm a 23 yr IBEW local 134 Electrician. We have a tool list we're not supposed to supply our own tools except those on the tool list. Most of which are your hand tools. Power and battery tools aren't on the list. I have used the best brands of power tools our contractors could buy I remember when everyone wanted Makita and DeWalt nicad battery tools and at that time I saw them get wrecked, or even worse they'd change the battery platform and you had a bunch of different batteries and chargers then the nicads would die and you had difficulty getting a replacement because there was a new platform and they didn't fit on the new tools. So I bought Ryobi and built a 23'x12' deck and drove all the 3" ss steel decking screws non stop with the original blue Ryobi impact. I was sold. 2 decades later on top of that original blue set I have a ton of their tools and about 20 batteries, for a while they were giving away most of the little half batteries and a few 4 Ah batteries because they were throwing free batteries and chargers at you.

I have lots of Ryobi tools and use them a lot. I have installed hundreds of exterior doors with my Ryobi impact driver, a few miles of quarter round with the 18ga brad nailer, changed tires and done other vehicle maintenance with my 1/2" impact. Used the fan for camping. Inverters during power outages. I really don't care what anyone thinks on a job site. Why should I spend 2-3x or more for a name brand that won't offer significantly better performance? I've gotten great service from my Ryobi tools. Great value too!

25 years ago when I was a carpenter apprentice I bought a bunch of Ryobi tools. A table saw, a chop saw, a router, and a belt sander. the table saw and chop saw every time you turned it on the saw would jump. so you had to hold on to it tightly. all the tool broke down after about 1 to 2 years. then I bought tools such as a Skil saw, a milwaukee sawzall, Bosch Bulldog and Dewault drill guns. all these tools I've had for over 20 years and they still work. I don't use them any more because now I use the Milwaukee Lithium 18v system. Also yes on occasion I see someone with Ryobi tools on the Job site. those people never get any respect.

I've actually used Ryobi to fill in a few times. Haven't had a failure yet. Good to see that they are starting to build a little higher quality tool, as some people just can't afford to start off with one of the big name brands. And to all the stuffed shirts say they "wouldn't be caught dead with ryobi" for fear of their work being questioned, as soon as I hear you bashing somebody's chosen tool brand, I'm gonna question your abilities. Simply because it makes you sound insecure of yourself. And the only reason to be insecure, is if you doubt your own ability.

#1 I believe you're right it shouldn't have a cord though it should be like their other hybrid models that you can plug in extension cord right into the unit, then they can always give the homeowner the little wall adapter if they're not worried about charging it on a job site, I myself would love to have the unit always attached to 110 v as a charger as well and only use the inverter when needed, other than that my majority tools is Milwaukee next is Ryobi and rigid. Ryobi is not homeowner quality anymore the half inch hammer drill cordless will break your wrist if you don't handle it correctly for anyone that doesn't know the most recent Ryobi company don't be fooled they're pretty damn good quality at a good price, towing company out there with a better warranty is rigid in my opinion. It's just a pain-in-the-ass saving the old receipts. Thanks for the video though very I like your site

@vcgconstruction I don't have any ryobi stuff but for homeowners they're not bad. I do agree with also being surprised that they're putting out some tools that you wouldn't expect to see from this level of tool brand. Right now I'm mainly surprised that Milwaukee Tool let Ryobi beat them to the punch of putting out a second gen transfer pump that on paper outperforms the Milwaukee M18 transfer pump with also having more features. Referring to the common about the type c port, I am disappointed in the maximum amount of wattage input, only 60 watts in is pretty pitiful when there are battery packs that I own that can charge at 140watts. But I am definitely glad that they decided to go with type c as every device going forward will have the availability of charging this regardless of the amount of energy output it can put out. And I completely disagree with the statement that type a is more reliable. Type a ports break off just as frequently if not more frequently than type c ports despite the small size. The construction of type c is actually quite robust.

This one or the 40v one would be pretty useful for me. It'd be nice to have as a portable power supply around the house, or to use to run some things during a power outage.. like my garage door. But they're priced for a contractor's market, not for me. And it's only 432wh worth of batteries in the kit. That's a hard sell (to me) when you can get things like the EcoFlow Delta 2 at the same $999 price and it's 1024wh LiFePo4.

As much as I have come to dislike the ergonomics & performance of my Ryobi tools (having since switched to Skil), I have to absolutely hand it to them as far as taking their consumer lifestyle product line as seriously as any contractor-grade tool company takes their jobsite offerings. I hope other DIYer/prosumer lines (Craftsman, Skil, Worx, etc.) step up their games to make similar offerings for their customers, because right now it's hardly a competition. That being said, I think Skil is best posed to be the biggest contender, if only because they already have the designs & manufacturing capacity from their Chervon family (Flex & Ego) they can use. Since Skil insists on only selling kits, we've got a dearth of batteries, & I would love a 12/20v flexvolt charger to plug into an inverter/solar power station for my PwrCore40 batteries. I know, I know, but a guy can dream.

I'm all about USB-C, it is the "standard" (even new iphones and ipods NOW have USB-C). However, as noted below, I'm disappointed in the USB-C outlet ports (45 Watts?..c'mon..is this 2018) and the input/charging port of 60 Watts. If you really want to charge from solar, gonna need more than that (yes, us Floridian's and people who are looking at this for Hurricane/power outages look at things like this). Nothing mentioned about the charging speed for the 8 batteries on-board once the power comes back on. If I have 8 nearly dead 6AH batteries and the A/C gets restored, how long to charge all 8?. Is it a simultaneous charger (charges more than one battery at the same time), or charges one battery at a time? Lastly, it's almost October and this thing is still not available...???

I own a ryobi, corded drill and that’s it, I like some of their tools but I have too much invested in my dewalt 20v max tools I don’t want to invest in ryobi, I used to like them back in the day, I don’t hate them now I just don’t want to start with another battery type

I use Ryobi just like you described, tools that I will only use a couple of times a year. There are always incredible deals on their tools and batteries. So even though I only have four or five Ryobi tools I have as many batteries for Ryobi as I do for my primary tool system. This would be a great way to get some use out of those batteries.

I think it’s So`SO but if you need power, you’ll have it +4 batteries 🧐🤨🥴

Still missed the mark like on the 40v. No pass through charging, no UPS charging, slow charging one at a time and the biggest miss no solar capability. You with think they would have listened to the 40v people’s concern

USB is far superior to MICRO USB lol ... I have a ton of 60-100w usb c chargers that I could use to recharge the batteries plus they sell a 4 bank battery charger for like 200 dollars so you could really knock that off the price of this unit considering it does that as well.
