In 90's, He made a music for legendary japanese stage art group "Dumb Type". If someone gets internet, i recommend the work "OR" for the first time to watch. Unfortunately, the main member of Dumb Type passed away, and their golden age perhaps gone; Dumb Type is still acting, but I don't know their works in 21 century. Idk their recently works are good or not, but I promise the works in 20 century's were masterpieces.

I have read an article about this guy, he is the pioneer in a genre called microsound. I have listened to a few of his songs on my laptop and was not that impressed, so the article praising him seemed unreasonable, but once I was in a music studio I remembered about him and tried to listen to his music on studio speakers and it was amazing. If you have an opportunity to listen to his songs on a good surround sound set give it a try. I can't explain why, but the title matches the composition perfectly.

@@Zeitgeist6 I saw him in a venue with a huge sound system and a projector screen in the early 2000s. The screen was scrolling white binary 1s and 0s on a black background. As it went on, pictures would appear made from the 1s and 0s. While this was happening, the bass was removing my chest! An hour disappeared in what felt like 5 minutes.

Listening to this for the first time in many years, I was looking for one specific, extremely high pitched, almost painful tone (plays a few times around 1:10). At first I thought I was, sadly, too old to hear it anymore. Turns out it seemingly just doesn't play on my headphones or earbuds. They're not top of the line audiophile headphones, but they're not junk either. Strangely, it plays on my cheap standalone plug-in computer speakers that sound like junk. It also sounds clearer and more distinctive on my mp3 file rather than a compressed youtube video, but that's to be expected. It's weird, but I just want to get the full effect on my over ear headphones and feel that frequency pierce my eardrum.

i would like to start a little discussion - i read a comment below that made me laugh - but then it kept spinning in my head, enhancing a thread of thoughts that i want to share.. first the original comment by r gray: "I was told that ' minimalism ' is an excuse for not being able to play your instrument . I tend to agree........everyone and their dog has listened to bullshit like Throbbing Gristle......( and I really liked them...had both their disc sets ) but eventually the sounds and noise ought to proceed to somewhere... otherwise it is just noise that anyone can fart out on a noise making apparatus" well, as to throbbing gristle: i remember, that my brother used to admire them during the late 70s for their uncompromising harshness, he even had their sign with the blitz on his pullover - i discovered them for myself much later and also listened to them for quite a while - i think later i felt the same as r gray, that´s why i had to laugh, when i read his words... thinking about it now, i must say, it´s not just quite as simple - you still have to see the time context in which things happen - for instance "deep purple in rock" was the hardest rock music you could get at that time, listening to it now you might say nice try! throbbing gristle were revolutionairy in their time, of course decades later there is not much left of this - anyway, wether you like throbbing gristle or not, i think their work was quite important during their time, to crack up overcome, obsolete schemes........ and as to minimal music: i´m a musician myself and i made a lot of minimal music, it´s absolutely not as easy to make as it sounds (i´m talking about good minimal music, if you want to get bestest quality, listen to steve reich "music for 18 musicians" - THE classic from the late 70s) - i also make ambient music, taking everything down, down, down - while i´m a fan of noises of almost any kind i somehow reached the point when i said: i don´t even claim to make music anymore - if anyone says: this isn´t music, i have no problem with that, it has become completely unimportant to me... everywhere on youtube people fight fiercely to make clear that THEIR star and idol is the ABSOLUTE BESTESTESTEST!!!!!! and that THEIR taste is the ONLY REALLY good one, and that anyone who dares to doubt it should best be killed a.s.o. what i want to say, what i would like to discuss: is the quality of the tones played identical with the quality of the music - is that measurable at all - at this very moment i see one of the old throbbing gristle titles in the other window: "perception is the only reality" and tend to say they´re right - again and again i have to realize, that my perception of music and quality of music is completely different than that of the most people i know, and what´s more, my perception changes constantly, so how could i say this IS OBJECTIVELY GOOD and that ISN`T... anyone ready to write a thought about that? (btw. i love this music by ikeda, it sounds very elegant and beautiful to me, while others might think it´s a boring ringtone or something)
