The OD hashogeki buff makes it a strong punish combo starter if your opponent is ever -18 or higher. On punish counter, you’re going to deal about 1300 damage with an OD hashogeki and it leaves you +7.

Honestly, they're gonna have to buff his dr so the 6hk tatsu can work in the meta after an ex fb. Also, the tatsu doesn’t even connect after a heavy hashogeki which makes this move rely entirely on gauge. If they want it to be similar to evil ryus...it should be a 10 frame medium command overhead kick. Buffing slow startup moves is absolutely useless. However, if this tc gave a denjin charge, with oki, i think we'd all love it more.

Since Ryu is a defensive player, he needs a air tatsu to scape on corner (Similar to Gouken SF4) Also he needs the ability to do several hadoken like he used to, in street fighter V (denjin renkin) by charging twice O 3 times 🙌🏻

👀 Thanks for posting the video man. It's good to see Capcom is noticing the need for improvements. Personally, for the last 20yrs, it has been exclusively Ryu for me. However, there are some moves & mechanics from SFV that I would have loved to see in SF6, but Capcom decided to abandon--which changes Ryu's fighting style completely. That's the biggest reason I now use Akuma for the first time in my own SF history.

Is blocked air tatsu punishable? Let’s say you do the forward highkick and accidentally confirm to tatsu, is it punishable? Minus is okay. Was just wondering. Don’t have access to the game right now.

Of course it is lol. Highly punishable at -16. Don't throw this out without confirming on hit or else you're eating the kind of combo that ends rounds.

Ryu need a weak tatsu wake up dp like Ken an akuma & me personally I wish he had two hit confirm, with longer combos, he doesn’t have quick dash or the aukma glide so hopefully they give him more in the next update

I felt that some of the buff are aimed for lower rank players. I'd say the OD hasho damage buff is aimed for modern Ryu auto combo.

At first glance i was happy, but then it all came crashing down when i realized that none of these buffs matter. Idk what it is. They just can't get ryu right. Ive heard that this is arguably his best version in any street fighter game. All his other versions must have sucked big time The fact that capcom thinks f.HK is a move used to control space is all i needed to know about how little they actually understand about ryu (or maybe just fighting games in general). Nobody uses f.HK to "control space". Its just a little too weak for what it offers. I think the best buff was L Hadouken and M Hadouken no longer being punishable by DI. Even then, that was more of a quality of life change.

6HK is not great at controlling space, but it offers good pressure in the corner, considering it also goes above lows. And having a meterless followup that offers oki is a good thing. Plus, a move that is widely used to control space even in pro play (even though it's kinda weak to parry), IS 236HK, and the fact that it now does an ENTIRE bar of drive damage is pretty damn good. So I'd say that they DO understand Ryu, but they're not overbuffing him all at once, and I'd say that's a good thing, considering how easy it would be to make him go over the top. And considering what good results he's been getting lately in tournaments I'd say he's in a pretty good spot. So yeah, this is definitely his best version and not even close to being unviable lmao

I disagree, on face value alone, they don't look "amazing" however c.mk into Hadouken being a true block string is absolutely huge, and easily the best buff he got on this minor patch,. Considering this has been something that I've been pissed at Capcom for not putting in, since this was a staple since SF2, and yet somehow Guile can keep staple SF2 tactics but has 17 billion other new options, along with Ken...but Ryu can't have c.mk into Hadouken for some reason. It's not just these buffs alone, but everything else that he has from the start of Season 2 that makes these changes great. It's having F+FK into hurricane kick, c.mk into Hadouken, and donkey kick being safe on block and taking 1 bar being mixed in with what he already has is what makes it great. These are really nice changes.
