I personally feel standing clinch/collar ties, should be illegal for the Karate Combat ruleset, purely so that we can see the more dynamic and frankly more interesting aspects of the art. I dont see the point of establishing it as a separate type of match just to have it degrade into an MMA with fast standups/breaks by the ref. Obviously this has nothing to do with either fighter, its just a consideration that I think the participants of this ruleset in particular and the staff of SBWC should discuss amongst themselves. Because watching this fight on mute as an MMA guy, Id assume its an MMA match and dont think Id be totally incorrect in doing so. Great fight, hope to see more of these in the future.
