Enigma's server is an answer to a struggling PvP community in DCS. Your videos compliment this so nicely, I feel like I've stumbled upon gold. The scenes around 18:20 - 19:30 have serious Battlefield 2 vibes. Just like back then, the combination of armor, helicopters, and flashes of jets overhead all pull together into an awesome experience. I like to complain about all that's wrong with DCS as much as the next guy, but there are few other games that can knock it out of the park like this.

Yeah it has got its problems like any other game/sim but really there isn’t much out there to compete. The dream sim for me is one that can combine the flight fidelity we have right now with a ground game like ARMA.

@@ryu1940 Honestly I think DCS could. It would be interesting if ED could get the damage model of ARMA. That and some kind of improvement to the ground AI. Hell the ARMA damage model And the combined arms aiming system would make a decent little tank game. A better AI would make a really decent game. Do that first, then plug in a full fidelity module of an M1 and you would have something. Give it a Jester, or petrovich style AI, and you would have something. I can't wait for Gunner HEAT PC. But I think DCS could offer a combined arms approach that would be hard to duplicate on another platform.

Nice job! Yeah I think the time really saved blue that night. By the time the time we had one sector left it was then 11pm-12am PST I think on a weeknight. Thank you! Unfortunately this is only multiplayer. I think you can run it on your own but it won’t be fun because there is no AI enemies aside from scripted bomber flights. The rest of the combat aircraft are all players.

That is an really well made video! What do you recommend for getting into the Hind for multiplayer servers? i love flying it , but i´m far too scared that i fuck things up on servers and breaking the immersion for everyone. Cold-start should be mandatory i think? How do they communicate?

I’m not sure about other servers but this specifically I can say is super friendly either in discord or in game if you need help or have questions. No one expects you to be an expert and people don’t get mad when you crash or get shot down so don’t worry about that. The server doesn’t block auto starts so if that is your thing you can do that. I do prefer to cold start the Hind only because it’s faster than doing the auto start (same for many aircraft, especially the Huey). You really don’t need anything to get started on this server. Most people use SRS to communicate and I recommend it but it’s not mandatory to use it. This server is the best in my opinion for the Hind.

No problem! The Hind is super easy to start up but like I said earlier, you can totally use auto start and watch that to learn how it starts up while you’re on the server if you want. There’s no rule saying you can’t use auto start. Each FARP has a designated slot so when you spawn in it’s not like you’re blocking anyone from flying if you take a long time to start up. Thanks man! You have to convert the trackfile to a .miz then go into it with the mission editor. From there you can change the mission options to enable third person views. Re-save it and convert it back to a .trk file. Now when you open it in the replay viewer, you will be able to see external views.

I honestly don’t know. I have read a variety of years that spans 1981-1990. I’ve also read there was a 23mm variant used in Afghanistan that they thought was underpowered so they upgunned it to 30mm. I cannot find any sources that definitively say when the Mi-24P IOC was unfortunately.

Awesome video, I am new to the hind and I will love to see from you Hind CSAR on this server. I cannot manage to radio/compass my Hind to downed pilot for some reason and I am all into CSAR with hind. I read all manuals tried all logical stuff but compass do not move to direct me to pilot. Some form of tutorial will be more then appreciate.

Thank you! I don’t use the Hind in a CSAR role so I am not familiar with its radio homing procedures unfortunately. The best use for the Hind on that server in particular is to destroy as much ground targets as fast as possible and rearm to repeat the mission. Hip is probably better suited for CSAR as it has less attrition score if you get shot down and less offensive capability vs the Hind (which is better suited for ground attack).

Yeah this is a limitation of the current ai plane set in DCS. It’s balanced with the H-6s standing in for the Tu-16 Badger on the red side. The H-6s also do not have tail gunners.

Sure! Whenever I get back into DCS I can make a video about flying the Hind. It’s not too hard. I think with some practice and gentle movements you can fly pretty smooth. The trick is keeping the speed up. When you’re slow you definitely need to be careful with large cyclic movements. Also in slow speeds for landing it is important to know the wind direction and use it to your advantage. The hind is pretty big in its broadside but skinny so if you aren’t flying into the wind on landing you can weathervane. It’s okay if you are expecting it but if you don’t expect it, it can cause some chaos lol

Yeah there are no external views. You need to change the .trk file to a .miz file then change the mission rules to allow you to see external views. You then need to convert it back to a .trk file and you’ll be able to view that trackfile in the replay with external views available.

some tip to you bro lower your alt in the attacks. You fly to mutch as a fixed wing on the strafe runs. a helicopter is a horisontal attacker not a vertical attacker. basic when you need to nose down in strafe you fly to high or to close.

Enigma cold war server is always dominated by redfor The mig21 has huge advantage with the iff more missiles than the f5e I recon when the f4e phantom is released it will be dominated by blufor

This isn’t true overall as the campaign victories are tied 5-5. You might be playing at the times when redfor is dominant but I’ve flown the hind on many nights where it’s been a 20-10 blue numerical advantage. The great thing about the server is they have things built in they can tweak for balance of once side is constantly clobbering the other and seem to be adept at discovering what works. I think when the F-1 is released, if that comes before the F-4, you’ll see a blue aircraft advantage as well. The next major red plane to compete would be the Mig-23 by Razbam but who knows when that will be out. Would be years I imagine.
