I actually saw the film in the UK when it was released. Incredibly moving. Great acting by Bowie and Sakamoto. Sakamoto’s musical score was the icing on the cake. Sad to hear of his passing today. RIP Sakamoto.

Very wise ... because humans are FLAWED ... and those who do not question themselves do not acknowledge their own fallibility. This is a huge problem nowadays, because people are lying and cheating "for the greater good/the cause" because they BELIEVE in "being right" / "being the good guys".

Mr. Sakamoto may have made a song that will last as long as 1000 years. In the distant future, if it forget who the song was written, it will be playing somewhere in the world. As a folk song of the future humanity.

I bought this aged 13 in 1983. Still as hauntingly beautiful today as it was back then. Sylvian's breathy and emotionally charged vocals and lyrics just add further depth to the piece. As a singer myself I really appreciate this song. Very sad to hear of Sakamoto's untimely death. This is a great tribute to him and his amazing talent as a pianist, and composer, of which he was a master of his art.

Lyrics: The wounds on your hands never seem to heal I thought all I needed was to believe Here am I, a lifetime away from you The blood of Christ, or the beat of my heart My love wears forbidden colours My life believes Senseless years thunder by Millions are willing to give their lives for you Does nothing live on? Learning to cope with feelings aroused in me My hands in the soil, buried inside of myself My love wears forbidden colours My life believes in you once again I`ll go walking in circles While doubting the very ground beneath me Trying to show unquestioning faith in everything Here am I, a lifetime away from you The blood of Christ, or a change of heart My love wears forbidden colours My life believes My love wears forbidden colours My life believes in you once again

@kojimasan4447 жыл бұрын
George Redelinghuys it did from gamelan. Ryuichi said he wanted to put something that was both exotic to Japanese and Western culture . If you watch the criterion collection extra where ryuichi talks about the film's score, he goes into great depth about how he hated his work for so long until he gave in realizing people still love and praise his work as one the greatest
