@@chrisrj9871 Na, we get to just skip ahead to the next attempt while he suffers for another 2-5 minutes off-screen getting to the part right before he died. Then he makes it 4 more blocks than last time before dying again and going off-screen for another few minutes of suffering. If you want to experience the agony he endures to produce these videos for us, I recommend some of his earliest videos before he started editing out all the mindless suffering.

I agree NSMBU style is very fun, but only if used right. Most the ones I built in SMM2 are platforming stages, and ones that are speedruns have zero piranha plants in them. The piranha jumps are beyond cliched and I don't know why creators feel obligated to include them.

Just because a level tanks your run and is difficult to learn doesn't mean it's bad. If people learn how the Canadian level works, it could become communal knowledge, maybe even a new frontier or avenue of creative exploration for kaizo levels, etc...

problem is, it's a trick-shot level with no explanation that has something like several million possible answers if it requires pixel or near-pixel perfect inputs. A lot of the Kaizo training levels are bad too.

@nathanielbass771 That's right, and I know that's what the 'boo button' is for - I would just hate to see some kid's dreams crushed because someone like Ryu booed his level. When I first got SMM2, I didn't know much at all about level design - but I discovered a (then) new tech, and made a level about it just showcasing the one trick. It got mixed responses and never got popular (the level, anyway - for all I know the trick itself did). That's all fine, but it would really suck if I signed on one day and saw my level had the permanent disfavor of a beloved SMM2 creator, especially* Ryu.

@@franzise3605 the only reason why i like ryu mario content more instead of thebwest content is he makes his videos without the help of the tool ((in this case totally fine) but thabwest just plays to finish the stuff now and for clicks. uses tool every time. you can see how he actually does not like playing the game anymore. ryu takes everything as a challenge and i thought it would have been the real way of the samurai to show: here ya go folks i am gonna knock this level out.

But I believe part of that may be due to how he sometimes chooses to let things go. I mean, it is totally possible that he may come back and beat this stage. But if he applied this mentality of knocking every outrageous level out, I think it would take a toll on him over time. You can tell he loves to rise to the challenge, but sometimes he just has to say no. And that is likely for the preservation of his own sanity...

Ryu's beaten way harder levels than this one before, but a level like this that probably takes close to the entire time limit (that's over 8 minutes, might not sound like much but if you have to play it even ten times, that's close to an hour and a half) and has no checkpoints is more tedious and annoying than truly difficult.
