Newer reviews from other sources indicate there's a massive gain to be had on productivity with PBO enabled up to 18% gain then when you also factor in the aggressive $50 price reduction and the new Bios update allowing 105w removing the stranglehold on power the 9600x becomes a beast of a CPU, This CPU is the thinking mans chip and can be used in small form factor builds or laptops with minimal cooling and a great middle tier do it all processor especially when updated and the power draw restrictions are removed now at the lowest price it has to be one of the best price to performance chips available today.

Seems okay with the pricing for launch too high. Over time it will go down but this is also an expensive 6core. Some channels suggest PBO enabled, Linux gaming/productivity results seem stronger too. Am thinking Windows might need to update for these to get better performance. Am thinking anyone with 5800X3D/12th gen/7000 series can likely hold off upgrading at least until X3D or R9s release, think those will be the performers. This might be a gen to sit out, well at least another month, see if those X3D deliver gaming performance.

Good Job, Sir. - I like that you didn't neglect the amazing low power draw and cool running chip, as well as the performance gains from changing power limits and undervolting. Gamers Nexus Hardware Unboxed and some other really failed in their reviews, being way too negative about these chips. Question remains, who is the target audience for this chip, maybe SFF PC fans or people who just like lower temperatures with the option to "overclock" it. Obviously these chips will have to be cheaper than the 9800X3d and 7800x3d (or those will have to be more expensive).

Two possibilities: 1) People are fed up with power hungry space heaters. We'll have to wait and see what happens when someone runs one overclocked for a while. Interesting over representation of the games that depend on higher clock speed over cache or cores in your test. I mean most of the CPUs tested can literally fit the entire active CS2 files on their L3 cache eliminating any X3D cache advantage while highlighting X3D lower clock speeds. If you wanted to make X3D look bad the games you selected would be in the how to manual. How are you shocked when you know this is true? Most newer games are not going to show anything near this kind of behavior on a 7800X3, it will smack the piss out of the 9600X. Even the 5800X3D will beat it in quite a few games.

@mapesdhs5974 ай бұрын
@@B3tterEv3ryDay Hardly dead end if the numbers show it's clearly good enough to last many years. Simply calling something "dead end" is not an argument. One can certainly make a rationale for AM5 as an all new build option, but then that would have to take into account 12th Gen Intel and other possibilities aswell. There are though a lot of AM4 users, as the sales number show. AMD could have reduced the cost of the 5800X3D way back, but instead they pushed out the clock-reduced 5700X3D and collapsed the supply of the 5800X3D, which has since skyrocketed in price, and now the reason why is clear: a comparatively cheap 5800X3D would make many of the newer AM5 parts look silly, but instead people can say oh but the 5700X3D is slower, etc., even though the frame rates are still amazing. People have become fps obsessed. Same reason why they never properly pushed a 5600X3D, or indeed a genuine 5500X3D, likewise why they quickly phased out the 3300X; they are competing with themselves, and all too often the lower SKUs demonstrate there's really no need to spend oodles on a high end part to achieve good performance in most gaming scenarios, especially at 1440p+.
