I just recorded this on the fly, between responsibilities, so it's dragged out and less refined than I'd like. I'll probably do a more formal presentation of this setup, but so far, I'm happy with the upgrade.

Heck yea man! You're still at it with the 301 after all these years I really appreciate that. Btw are you able to fit a 280mm rad in the front if one removed the HDD cage and tray section completely? Is it possible to maybe modify it to make that work? Always wondered that. I plan on getting a 301 as a tinkering/hobby PC soon. And what motherboard are you using btw?

You could do that, but you'd have to make a 280mm bracket, and remove the bar that covers the 20-pin connector. I could CAD one for you to print, or print and ship it to you, but I'd have to charge you shipping lol. I'm using the MSI MAG b550m Mortar Wi-fi Gaming. I always watch benchmarks before buying, and it had the best VRM temperatures for b550's, so even if the stock performance for it isn't the best, it should overclock as well as any other board. It was also on sale when I bought it for $160, and it's actually $238.87 on Amazon RENEWED atm, though $200 is reasonable for it. Hardware Unboxed has a b550 benchmark video, and I recommend you watch it before buying, as some of the boards failed to even run high end Ryzen stock without thermal throttling due to VRM temperatures. The case is great, though front airflow could be improved even with 1mm perforations, which would be practically invisible from a distance. Without sufficient front-side intake, the front fans recirculate the air that's in the case. I suppose I could also CAD a perforated front-end for the case, though you'd have to paint it to make it look perfect, and matching the exact matte finish could prove difficult on its own. I guess that's a project for another day. Thanks for watching my video, and please let me know if you have any other requests.

Nice to know I'll keep that in mind when I eventually order that 301. (Im planning on using it as a secondary guest PC. And yea that MSI B660 sounds like a good deal.

Have you tried messing with PBO, Curve Optimiser, and CPU voltage offset? I have a 5900x, here are my settings: PBO limits disabled Curve optimiser -25 all core CPU voltage offset -0.1375 Infinity Fabric: 1900 Ram: 3800 (1:1 with infinity fabric) This keeps my idle temps around 40 degrees, and boosts to around 4.5GHz all core at around 65 degrees. Have the same case inwin 301.

I have. The problem being that the boost clock won’t actually keep the clocks at the full frequency when trying to load 100%. That’s the only reason I prefer ryzen master setting. Mine also idles in the 30s, and fluctuates in the 60s unless it’s at full load. That really only happens during benchmarks, software encoded exports, unreal engine builds, and software machine learning. Run hwinfo and see where your clocks actually are when you’re trying to run cinebench. You may see that they won’t actually reach 4500 except in single core.

I'm using InWin 301 myself. I love how compact and small it is but damn so darn troublesome to do cable management, can be done but so hassle everytime I have clean it.

I can’t say I’ve had that problem. The only cables I have are due to the 5 fans, Sata for one ssd, and sata for a hdd. I do have a modular power supply though.

@@Bunta1987qwerty no worries. It's just my thoughts about the case that we are both using.

Those thermals seem pretty good for such a little case and a C PU who most say needs liquid cooling.. We have the old Enthoo case and with stock 3700x /Grand Macho , temperatures are at least as high as what you got in Cinebench. (maybe Macho's contact area is compromised) Vetroo V6 seems very good with your 301. Is your 301 set up for negative pressure with two right side exhaust fans and no bottom fans? Rosewill's "Prism" (Skarkoon "Pure Steel") may give lower temps than 301. My 301 has been very good with 4560 and will get a cheap Xeon upgrade in a day or so. These Ryzen pretty much kill the urge to use old Xeon cpu - perhaps that will drive the server chips down further so I can play with a dual 2697V2 -

I have been really impressed with this CPU. I know the video doesn't show it well, but I can have it achieve over 30k in cinebench R23 with the profile I'm using, as long as I don't have background applications running. This is with the CPU hitting 80C max. The vetroo fans were too high pitched for me, so I have Cooler Master Sickle Flow V2 fans on it. My case fans are 2 intake at the bottom, and a rear exhaust fan (All Scythe Kaze Flex RGB). No fans up front. I've tried every configuration possible, and this has yielded the best results for me. The front fans have little influence, since they don't exactly exhaust/intake, since it basically just flows past the side vent, and back into the main volume. Honestly, even with 2 intake, and one exhaust, it's still negative pressure, even though the case fans are all running the same speed. I suppose the PSU is enough of an exhaust, in addition to the rear case fan, and the intake fans are close enough to the GPU that they're cut down in volume a bit. I actually have mine set to minimum speed until 60C, and max at 80C, with the median value around 75C. The PC is super quiet during normal operation, since min speed is 300rpm for the case fans, and about 650rpm for the cpu fans. Max they're 1200 case, 1800 cpu. I use a similar profile for my son's 3700x (4150 MHz at 1.2000V), and that thing barely sees 70 in the NZXT H1. It could probably do 4300 or better at 1.3, but it would likely hit 80C at that point. I find the stock voltage is really high on all Ryzen CPU's, but they do that to make sure they all run without crashing, considering they're not precisely binned. Same with GPU's. I undervolt my RX 6800 from 1100mV to 950mV, and it's overclocked to 2350 MHz. Of course, that's with the power limit set to max (+15%). I am interested to know, did you end up getting the Xeon, and how's that going?
