Another Saturday morning at Ken's Garage....got my Seattle's Best French Roast, home brewed, and a special today, bagels from regionally renowned Bagelman! Coffee, bagels, and Ken's Garage. Life is good! 😊 Thanks for sharing the finer points of carb syncing. Guess I have a new tool to buy to help with the never ending quest for finely tuned carbs...😂 As for me, I am in the midst of doing a paint repair on my tank; a small paint touch up, a new decal, clear the decal and paint repair, 2k sand the entire tank, and 2 coats of clear on the entire tank. Loads of fun with nasty chemicals! Glad I have a buddy who used to work in an auto body shop to help and advise. So far, we are coming along nicely with the prep and the paint practice part. BTW, that red powder coat on the frame looks spectacular. Looking forward to seeing your first ride video up to the Junction. 😊

I think you would be happy with the purchase of uni synch. Wish I had a friend in the auto body business. Or just any friend for that matter 🤣I'm having to learn it all on my own. Yes, looking forward to riding this bike with Ken's Garage porting. Should be interesting.

Here's a funny story for you: My neighbor stopped by recently. I do not know him well, but we've met a few times in passing. I thought he might be wanting to complain about a noisy Sunday morning RZ warm up. 😒 Turns out he has a cafe'd Honda CX500 with a leaky petcock, and was wondering if I could help him fix it. Quickly found the problem, fixed it, and made his day. 😊 BTW, he likes the smoky RZ, his brother had an RD250 back in HS. 👍👍🤣 My other neighbor , that's another story...... 🤣🤣🤣

I like this gadget. Got myself one and sync'd the carbs. Interestingly mine read at about half your readings. 3.5 thingys aside. Running the factory issued (Mikuni 48H 00 stamped) carbs that came with it with 240's and #2 pilot.

Nice. Interesting yours read so much different. Is your bike stock? Mine is brand new everything, ported, no air box (not pertinent to this discussion), currently 420 main jets and 27.5 (?) pilot jets. Not sure if there would be or should be any consistency in the thingy value from engine to engine due to varying specs and adjustments.

@@KensGarage1 yes. stock as you can get. Non CA bike. I think it's 1st oversize rebore and new crank from PJME in UK. I got my hands on some Canadian OEM pipes and put them on. Perhaps that's it. and not pertinent to this discuss :) going full OEM airbox. boring, but I want to see what the factory wanted the bikes to be.

Does that screw on the throttle cable pulley adjust both slides equally at the same time to change the idle?

Two turns out on the Air Screw indicates your pilot jet maybe too small. Go up one size so you can gain more fuel control over that circuit using the screw. The screw should be at about 1-1/2 turns out. Having a larger pilot will dump more fuel into the air stream due to a very high vaccum level when you close the throttle at high revs. That cools the engine better to prevent seizing on deceleration. If the engine is popping a lot as it decelerates from a high rpm under a closed throttle...........you need a bigger pilot. The engine should just hummm as it decelerates all the way down to a steady idle. A pop or two is ok just before it settles into a smooth idle. It should not go Ring......... Ding........... Ding. ........Ding................ Ding as it decelerates. If it's doing that the pilot is too small. Having a fatter pilot also helps it rev quicker just as you open the throttle from idle because these carbs don't have an accelerator pump on them.

So your are adjusting the barrel height at idle to be the same with tool. On are Canadian carb each carb has a fuel stop screw. Nice tool how much. When you adjust air screw are you trying to get max rpm’s then back off a 1/4 turn?

The slide heights are adjusted to synch vacuum. They may or may not be at the same exact height. Air screws were adjusted to get max RPM and left like that. Curious if others do the same or back off 1/4 turn as you mentioned. There is a link to the tool in the video description. Thanks Chris.

@@KensGarage1 I was always told to back off 1/4 turn on air screw so it just a little richer is better. Not sure if correct but make sense to compensate for elevation and temp. A little rich is usually better than to lean.
