Good video bud! We ride 900S’ models on our channel too and love these cars. Thanks for the tips. Our next upgrades will be wheels/tires. Just finished new drop cages so onto the next!

Nice. Spent this weekend at a very wet windrock and the RZR did great with the new wheels/tires.

We did the same tire upgrade as yours ( 900s) we just recently upgraded my clutch an noticed it rides 10x smoother now with the bigger tires.. used the Dalton clutch kit, well worth it.
@ShaneBurrell13 жыл бұрын
Recently sold the 1000S for my normal 4-5 year upgrade. It was a great machine with those tires. The spring upgrade also made a big difference (smoother and gained back like new ground clearance). I never tried a clutch kit but never really had any clutch issues.

I bought a new set of 29.5 Outlaw 2’s new from a Hilifter and put them on my 2016 1000s when I’m riding in muddy conditions. They fit perfectly. Bought a set of 15” STI rims and 28” Motoclaws for the trail riding. But only paid $300 for the Hilifter take offs. They ride bad on hard packed trails though.

Great info Shane. Did you have to use rised arms with forward offset in front and rear offset in the back in order to go with the larger tier? And if so, di you have to go with the Rhino or similar style axles? Thanks
@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
I installed front offset only. Rears fit fine with stock arms. The front offset arms didn't require a driveshaft change. I'm running stock driveshaft all the way around. If you do rear offsets it does require axles with more angle. For this swap wasn't need thou. Just offset arms in the front, XP wheels and tires.

Hi Shane, been watching your videos... What brand of LED headlights did you buy? Thanks

I picked them up on ebay. Appear to be made by lightway. No problems with them and they are very bright.

Looks good! Polaris uses the standard version of the Bighorns though, not the 2.0's. Both are 6 ply but the regular version you got is a heavier duty tire with slightly wider and deeper lugs. You'll like them! Can Am's come stock with 2.0's. Polaris has always used the standard version even back in the 800 days.

Better look again. We've got a Turbo, XP1000, and RS1, all have regular Bighorns. None have 2.0's. I have a set of 2.0's on another machine so know what to look for, the big 2.0 on the sidewall.

If they don't have raised white letters that say bighorn, there not the original ones go look at maxxis website.
@topgunatv6 жыл бұрын
Yes do go to the Maxxis website and read what it says. The 29" x 14" Bighorns in the original version do not have the white letters, the only originals that do not. It is clearly printed on their website: "*This size does not include raised white lettering".

Being several years old, how has this setup worked out for you? Do you prefer the dirt commanders or big horn?
@ShaneBurrell13 жыл бұрын
Still working great. I would say the bighorns are better on the rocks and do ride pavement better than the dirt commanders. I would use dirt commanders again but if I had a choice I prefer the bighorns.

Hi again Shane , are you still liking the xp1000 wheels/tires? I just bought a New 2018 1000S and wanting to go with 14". Notice any power loss or clutching issues? Thanks
@ShaneBurrell16 жыл бұрын
Pete B Great upgrade and still performing well. No noticeable loss of power no clutching issues. Maybe rolling bit faster on low engine brake but I’ve gotten used to it. I already picked up another set for the next tire change. My fall windrock video was on that set of tires. Dirt commanders are good tires but the big horns seem to do better in mud and rocks. And the radial is nice on pavement. Seem to be wearing better as well.

Thanks Shane! Great info. I plan to do this upgrade and now fit my RZR S 1000 in the back of my Ram 2500. The narrowest part of the entrance at the tailgate is 60" and I was bummed that the stock RZR is a little wider (like 62.5"). So what makes the Bighorn tires bring the width down to 60"? They have the same width as the Dirt Commanders at 9" in front and 11" in back. I think you said something about a rim offset? Does the rim, where it bolts on, sit further out on the tire? Thanks again!
@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
The offset is a bit different on the XP wheels. It's gonna be tight fit in the bed. I've never tried to load mine in the bed.
@toddbyers585 жыл бұрын
@@ShaneBurrell1 Hey Shane. Upgrade complete and it now fits in my Ram 2500 long bed. Back tires are snug between tailgate opening. When pulling it in facing forward, front went in easy and back end was a little to the right and the back tire snagged the tailgate latch bolt and had to be backed up a little and centered. Actually nice to have the back of the RZR fit snug between the tailgate opening when traveling. Anyone trying this I would recommend some good Ramps that can handle at least 1600 lbs . I was a little concerned that my tailgate could handle the weight when loading, as there isn't a weight rating published that I could find. But it held. When fully loaded, back tires rest barely on the bed vs. Tailgate. Drove my truck with it loaded and it handled and did great. Now I need to try out the RZR with the upgraded tires :-). What a great upgrade. Thanks again for your vid!
@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
That is awesome!
@toddbyers585 жыл бұрын
@@ShaneBurrell1 I spent some time loading and unloading the RZR and realizing the RZR S 1000 is just too big to comfortably fit in the bed. If the truck is on an angle just a bit, it leans the RZR and causes the lower tire to hit the tailgate latch bolt requiring manually lifting and pushing over the rear of the RZR, which isn't easy. Also, you have The back of the RZR position has to be perfect or it doesn't go in easily. The front is too wide to fit between the wheel wells and is a bit difficult to get up over as well (I could smell my belt burning), and is probably dangerous as the back tires are still on the ramps when climbing over the humps which pushes back on the ramps. If the ramps kicked out (I strapped them with 4 straps to be sure they wouldn't) with the back tires still on them, that wouldn't be good. Sorry for the bad news, just didn't wan't the word to get out that this is easily doable. Maybe some skinnier tires without as much tread on the side would help. My plan is to eventually get a 50" Trail Rzr for hauling in my truck and put the S 1000 in the toy hauler (as most toy haulers can't accommodate two UTVs)..
@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the update. The only way I've seen the 60" fit comfortably (easy off and on) is on a bed tray above the bed rails. It works but you end up with a very high load/long ramps.

Hi Shane Just a quick question. I have read that I might have to change to a different lug nut when I put 1000xp tires on my 900s. Is this true. Thanks
@ShaneBurrell13 жыл бұрын
If you have an older 900s with the smaller lugs you will have trouble with this. Easiest way to check is look the model of wheels you are getting and the lug size of your 900s. I don't remember what year they went to the larger size.

@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
It's measured from the hubface.
@racefacefpv72945 жыл бұрын
Oh, I thought if a wheel was let's say 3 inches from rim to the hub from the inside and 3 inches from the hub to the outside that would be zero off set. I think the xp 1000 wheels are 6+1 offset.
@ShaneBurrell15 жыл бұрын
Xp wheels have a 38mm offset. Most just say 6+1. This a good reference and lists reasons you don't want to go way over stock offset. shocktherapyst.com/wheel-offset-and-suspension-performance/

No clutch change. The change isn't noticeable really. More top end, slightly less engine brake at low speed.
