I own two of these machines. The older one is 7-8 yrs old and started having trouble backing up. I thought it was weak hydro's but it turned out to be due to slop in steering affecting linkages to the hydro's. I was able to fix it by adjusting the linkages to the back wheels so it worked better. I jacked the machine off the ground so I could run it with deck off, and stepped on reverse and turned the wheel all the way in both directions, and all the way right, no wheels turned! I kept adjusting the rear linkages until the wheels did turn in reverse with the steering all the way left and right like it should. It still stays in neutral with no forward or reverse pushed. It's tricky to adj, and steers very hard for sure when out of adj. I will probably be looking for the 1/4" and 5/16" dowel alignment holes, and do it all over again now that I have watched this video.

where can I get the alignment tools, or does someone have them that they could give measurements so I can make them.

My local motocolteur mechanique says he has replaced alot of these steering mechanisms, saying they are too complicated and I should of bought the model with levers! He is saying the replacement bits are 500€, without labour! So should this guy be adjusting the steering mechanism, instead of keep replacing them........?? I have 260 hours on my RZT-S 46 now, and the steering often goes stiff, it will be 3 years old in September 2017......any advice would be appreciated.

The mower with levers cannot be used on hills and this one can. So it's not a fair comparison. I would not buy one with levers if I had hills to mow.

I think someone else already said this but this mower is much safer on hills, around ponds, and ditches. I need this service done but need the tools.
