Great idea. I think making the whole thing wider and fix everything together with glue and screws. Have one side thick ply then the other side a block of 2x2 with slots in it with screws and wingnuts would be a good idea. That way the whole thing is solid and it is adjustable to any size you want and can actually clamp whatever your moving.

Thanks for your comment, however the way this is designed, it is solid and fully adjustable. In fact, it works quite well and has seen frequent use since I made it. Of course, there is always another way to accomplish something. I guess it's simply a matter of perspective on what works best for a particular individual.

I'm definitely going to make one of these! I have a bunch of plywood that I need to store for the winter. I'm building a shed right now, and as soon as it's done the plywood will get moved inside. When I had to move quite a few sheets to lay floors in a couple of sheds earlier this year, I darn near killed myself!!! I don't have the reach to be able to carry it, and now that I'm way 'over the hill' even dragging it around requires a supreme effort and a couple of days to recuperate! I have to move the plywood over some pretty rough ground, so I think I will have to adapt my dolly a bit to accommodate some fat tires, but other than that it looks like everything else will be the same. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful idea AND a drawing to boot! AWESOME!!!

Glad this can help you out! Check out the plywood tote tool I posted to supplement your plywood moving equipment: kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJyTaJeBmraUl6M

Wow!! Thanks! This is exactly what I needed. My shop is in the basement. Fortunately the slop to the basement is very walkable. But a 3/4"x4'x8' ply is just too heavy. These wheels should roll easily on the grass. I have lots of plywood laying around. I'll make the ply pieces first and that will tell be the length of the bolts. For what I do all will be 1/2" ply. Thanks again!

You're welcome. Glad this helps.👍

@@DowneastThunderCreations What size shims are you using to carry 3/4" ply? I assume 2 - 1/2" or 2 - 3/4". I may never carry anything but 1/2" & 3/4". But never say never. These wheels should be fine on wet ground that's still hard enough to walk on. Right?

@@jimw544 I don't have a schedule or anything. I just adjust the various thicknesses of plywood shims to fit (by eye) and I don't worry about what particular order they are in. I sometimes move solid wood doors so I have the option of wider guides but the thicknesses vary - that's why I came up with this dolly. As for wheels - the ones I used work fine for me but weight will have a direct effect upon them sinking into the ground or not. If this is a concern, you might consider using wheels with pneumatic tires mounted on them (Harbor Freight Tool Co. routinely runs sales on these for pretty cheap prices).
