After quite a bit of research, we discovered the lead time to secure heavier axles, wheels, and associated hardware would be excessive and the cost with shipping would almost rival the purchase cost of a new trailer. In addition, there would still be all the work required to remove the old axles, then fabricate and weld various tabs and other mounting hardware, plus install the new axles.
The search for a brand-new trailer began in earnest as we felt this would be the way to go within the earliest timeframe. Several trailer manufacturers were contacted as were retail outlets within a 100 mile radius of our location.
The end result was an agreement between my daughter and Wright Trailers, Inc. of Seekonk, Massachusetts to build her an 8’ x 20’ tiny house trailer. Lead time is approximately 4 weeks before we can take delivery. We dealt directly with Steve Wright and his company builds specialized tiny house trailers of all sizes. A deposit check has been sent to the company and all systems are go!

Sounds like a great trailer for this tiny home. Wish I was closer, I'd love to help! Of course age has slowed me down as much as you...short sprints, that's where its at now! Taking my camper to Annapolis next week for the boat show. I'm thinking about breaking out the GoPro, But I really have got out of the habit. Maybe I'll try. Not sure if you were watching when I let the channel go. My sister got sick in VA and I decided to come home. She did not survive the illness and I ended up leaving the boat in Key West for a month. When I got back I had no crew, and not as much time as I'd hoped to spend in the Bahamas. As the executor I had things I needed to do that were damn hard from Key West, impossible from the Bahamas so I spend a few months in Key West and was back in VA early March. After finally fixing all I had broke on my trip back I think I've gone for sails twice. Been a strange year. Anyway, I'll be in touch if I get crazy enough to come to Maine in the winter to give you a hand! I will be watching to see this build!

I watched your last video but wasn't aware of everything going on in the background. Did you ever get your boat back up the coast from Key West or is it still being stored down there? Wish I could get down to Annapolis for the boat show - I've been threatening to attend the past few years but haven't made it yet! 👍👍👍

I was in No Name Harbor in Miami when I edited and posted my last video. I had the phone call about my sister that day. I decided to head for Key West and the Navy base the next day. I put the boat in a slip at Boca Chica and flew home. I drove back a month later on December 15th, so I had a vehicle. My son flew down the end of February for a visit and drove my truck home. I left two days later to bring the boat back home. I arrived in VA on March 10th. It was a rushed trip, no screwing around. 10-12 hour days, no stops along the way. The boat is back in my marina. Auto pilot, fridge fixed and a new furler (and headsail) to replace the one that broke and took away my headsail use on the way home. 90% of the trip inside the ICW. Notable days in the Gulf Stream and offshore SC-NC coasts. I am doing the Boat Show with a good friend who got us free tickets from the Moorings. Thank you Moorings! Camping at the Navy Base campground is way cheaper than a hotel room! 3 miles from the parking garage! I'm trying to get my mind wrapped around making another video. I'm keeping it. I was willing to sacrifice it for my daughter's tiny house but I really have quite a bit of use for it. If I had used it for the tiny house, I would have to start looking around for a replacement. 👍👍👍
