11:09 This part is wrongly formulated. The thrust above 24 degree was *35 kN for 24 second * then 20 kN for 31 second, because the total engine operational time was 51 seconds (55-24 = 31)

I waited for someone to talk about the missile defence in detail for so long, and now my dream came true with your channel. The Binkov videos about S-25 and its successor were fantastic, so many thanks for good writing. I’m subscribing immediately. Keep it going. EDIT: Answering the call in your video - Yes, please do talk about the radars in the future.

Very informative content... looking forward to the S-125. From what I have gathered about the RSN radar, the early versions did not use full coherent signal processing but used what is know as coherent on receive, meaning the transmitted pulses were not in phase,
@militavia-air-defense-aircraft
@militavia-air-defense-aircraft 2 ай бұрын
Dvina and the RSNA-75 did no use coherent waves = SDC never was available. The Volkhov and the SNR-75 used coherent pulses. (at 19:15) The SNR-125 had from the beginning the low level capability was not possible without coherent waves.

This is excellent! Thanks for sharing this, I have a question though about the LORO tracking, is the waves received by the wide antennas dictates the narrow beam angle adjustments that makes the target "locked" by the the narrow beam radar?
@militavia-air-defense-aircraft
@militavia-air-defense-aircraft 3 ай бұрын
Nope. In LORO mode to start the target acq. and tracking with the SNR-75 you need very precise data from the P-18. The point of the pencil beam that the same 1MW peak pulse power provides longer detection range. The parabola antennas transmitting and the wide beam antenna only receiving. With a very primitive and inaccurate analogy. Wide beam - The two long antennas are flashlights and eyes. They emit and also receive the reflection when the are in receiver state. Tthese antennas produces a pulse, wait until what the pulse repetition time frequency defines then transmit again. This time gap determines the max. detection range to avoid the distance ambiguity. LORO - The parabola antennas are the two flashlights but the eyes are the wide beam antennas. This provides the protection against the angle deception jamming of its era.
@Webofchains
@Webofchains 3 ай бұрын
Ohh I see thank you for the explanation, I thought the P-18's job would be over once the target was spoted by the RSN 75 😅..thanks again! I'm binge watching your videos man it's really cool !

@@Webofchains Whoa, ALWAYS the P-18 sport a target. This is way targ. acq. radar. Even in wide beam mode target search i very, very limited compared to the P-18.

I remember reading that an early Soviet SAM with LORO would not automatically track a radar target, rather human operators for azimuth and for elevation would track a target manually; is this the case with the SA-2?
@militavia-air-defense-aircraft

As I know auto target tracking works with LORO. But I can ask about it.

About Volhov there is no reliable info because of the propaganda effect in Arab-Israeli Wars. It was not mentioned intentionally. About the Dvina are very accurate values from Vietnam. 2nd video in the playlist. The Volkhov was very similar, major difference cannot be expected against manovering targets. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKrIYodmrZufptE

It is on my list but it is not a homeland air defense, it is an army air defense system. The whole structure and organization and every SAM and SP AAA system of the WPACT will be presented. The 2K12/SA-6 is part of a large system so at first step the structure and organization has to be explained at least on basic level to understand its role and position. And you can see also the deviation from the planned nominal and what some WPACT countries had... ;) But this takes time...

Even against early 4th gen planes had limited use. It is close to 0. It is a very outdated thing. Imagine like a samurai sword on modern battlefield. In theory you can kill it a human but in practice it is so outdated that expecting acceptable result if quite a fantasy.
