It's a legit style dating back to (at least) 1860 -- it has as much provenance as any of the other Morris styles and actually has a rather better claim to unbroken tradition than most of them. Astonishing stuff.

I AM A Morris Dancer in ENGLAND this not MORRIS DANCING the steps and music is not Morris and should not under any circumstance be called Morris. I have never seen such a ridiculous dance.

It's called Carnival Morris, which is a different, but equally valid tradition, to what you think of as Morris dancing. It's got an interesting history, dating back to the 19th century. Perhaps you should broaden your knowledge of English folk culture before making such strong claims.

Suzi Smith Well, the Morris Ring clearly believe that this is a form of Morris dancing as they have an article on their website written by Dr Lucy Wright explaining Girls' Carnival Morris Dancing - and there is a photo from the 1920's showing a girls team looking very much like those in the video.

Hi. I dance Cotswold Morris but I also know that this is Morris Dancing and very popular.
