I love the dialogue here. This is what always stands out to me about prequel, the dialogue that always pushes Katia into trying harder, and never letting her accept she's truly hopeless. "Look, I know you are ghost-insane. You have my pity. But when are you going to realize this is stupid and accept that I'm worthless, and not any kind of genius or prodigy?" "Honestly? As soon as you give up. That will be the point where your actions led to failure rather than success." "..." "But you're still here. You could have walked away at any point, but you're still doing a dumb puzzle for a mad ghost, trying to prove you can't do it, even though with each try you are only more likely to prove yourself wrong. And I think you want to be wrong. I think you want to believe that maybe, just maybe, I'm right about you. And that's why you haven't given up." "... So I should try it again?" "That depends. Will you?"

This is my favorite ending to Extrapolate and I consider it canon. I love that Aggy points out what is probably Katia's best feature, the fact that even though she considers herself a total failure, a loser who can't do anything right, she keeps trying, again and again. Aggy is a great mentor, and beyond the enjoyment of the story itself, I actually feel like the lesson he teaches in this scene is really important in day to day life.

One of Aggy's best pieces of hidden dialogue in this game triggers if your second attempt has more pegs left than your first try. He praises you for having found a bad idea, then talks about good ideas can't exist in the absence of bad ones and how sticking to only good/everybody else's ideas probably means those ideas won't be any good anymore, while using an analogy about eating apples! Truly incredible writing. I also like how the "really bad at peg solitaire"-route triggers a hint to winning: Holding the starting peg for a few second briefly draws a map of winning moves. But if you're unable to follow that, the game eventually starts locking you out of bad moves to make you reach the end. :-]

This is basically a huge spiel on how you can't assume that something isn't/doesn't/can't just because you don't have any evidence that it isn't/doesn't/can't, which is just silly. If there's no evidence or reason to do or believe something, you just *discard it.*

This update to the comic came after a three month break where, among other things, Kazerad was "being there for a friend who was going through a serious bout of depression." I think the uplifting, positive dialogue Aggy delivers in this flash correlates with that. Kazerad's writing was mirroring his real life at that time. Great stuff. :-)

This is pretty much exactly how I imagined it would go. Katia, believing that she couldn't solve the puzzle, would take a few tries (and some odd advice) before actually using that brain of hers to solve it for real.
