The best springer on the market. I do also like the TX but the HW has better acces to the loading port and i don't like the bear trap push button on the TX to release the lever. The TX has a superb finish. Cheers!

A lot of nice springers, LGV & LGU gotta be up there, pro sport, all the Weihrauch springers are excellent really, Birmingham made Longbows were good, a few Dianas are a bit underrated as well I think.

Couldn't agree more mate , had loads of rounds through all of the big three, tuned the hw97 and the tx the 97 is just the better gun , tighter tolerances, shorter stroke then all 3 from factory, nicest trigger especially once you do work on it. Brilliant gun.

Agreed, I think the 97 has a sharper lock time than the TX and the trigger is so good it's like an extension of your mind (if you know what I mean).

The first air gun I ever used was my dad's hw77 when I was a young boy. I remember it being too heavy to hold up and I couldn't cock it on my own either. But with something to rest it on and help loading it I remember it being soo accurate! Pellet on pellet every time. Nearly 20 years later and the happy owner of an AA I went into my local gunshop to buy one myself. But ended up falling for a 97 in blue laminate instead. I've got a little Optisan compact scope as per your recommendations and with a little TBT kit fitted it's phenomenal! I've since bought a RATworks HW100 but the 97 is still my go to gun. Its genuinely the best air rifle I've ever shot

Also, the trigger although good, the second stage has a slight creep, I’ll have to get in there and rework it, I’m a hobby gunsmith with powder burning firearms, I have no doubt that I can refine the trigger.

Great review yet again. I’m lucky to own both the TX200HC and the HW97K. No doubt the HW97K is a beauty to shoot and accurate. I do prefer my TX200HC but that’s a personal thing. I just happen to like Air Arms. A shoot off between the two would be great!

Great video as always, thank you. I wanted a TX200 but so darned expensive, I actually ended up with a 2nd hand Hw97K, the lock time is great on this gun. It'd be good to see a shoot off between a HW97K & TX200. Perhaps as you're the TX200 guru, you should find the best 97K shooter and do it that way. So you're shooting against someone who's as good and used to shooting with the 97 as you are with TX, just a thought? Also I would love to see you using the 97 for a HFT competition to really 'stress test' it and you possibly?I...lol Keep up the really great work for our sport, thanks once again Lee

I bought mine in .22 a good few years back second hand for about £275 as it has some light surface rust from the previous owner incorrectly storing but it was stacking pellets no problem untuned, its only recently that ill be doing sone work on it as its been dieseling as of late making it feel like it has more recoil than a 9mm. Gonna be buying a tbt kit as those have exceptionally good reviews and tuning the internals until its smoother than silk. Its still possible to stack pellets out to 25 yards even with the extra recoil from the dieseling though i dont like the consistency im getting. Either way its an absolutely beautiful project gun that can easily take more fur than rabies. A 7mm allan key to remove the end cap and put a 1/2 unf adaptor on the end +an additional suppressor makes it much quieter. Bonus fun fact, blu tack (yes the same stuff people use in offices to stick paper to boards) is exceptionally good at acting as a pellet stop and completely stops a 12ft lb .22 pellet being dieseled with about 1/2 inch thick of blu tack, it also takes away the impact noise completely so if you shoot indoors and dont want to disturb neighbours with ringing steel, line your pellet trap with some blu tack, about 20 quids worth will make a 6x6 inch by about half and inch thick square which is more than enough to line a pellet trap. You can also stack multiple pellets in the blutack without worrying about it blowing through the back though i wouldnt go above 10 pellets in the same spot just for safety reasons, it also catches all spalling from the pellets breaking apart pretty easily too and can be remolded back into the shape you need for your target but if course make sure you have a suitable backstop, for using hollowpkints it stops them even easier and expands the pellets very easily. The colder the blutack the easier it stops pellets, i froze the blutac in the freezer (-20c) overnight and the superdomes i use with dieseling didnt even get more than 1/8th of an inch or aprox 3mm deep and had zero ricochet which greatly surprised me

Great video... Had my HW97 for 18 months and love it. Would be great to see a head to head and taking HW97 into competition. You can add a silencer! The standard thread is revealed using a hex key to remove the end cap. I was recommended using 4.52 pellets in a .177 specially AA Diablo Field for top accuracy in HW97s. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻

So glad to discover your channel - proper job. Made me laugh, 'cos I'm sitting here in my camo Crocs! Now, the HW... I've always been a Weihrauch man, shot them for 35 years and still got my HW80 from 35 years and 100s of 1000s of pellets as well as many bunnies and pigeons later. Love my 100k - what a thing. But I've never gelled with the 97 (my lad shoots mine now). Very accurate (and I imagine great for HFT), but I always found it a bit awkward in the field - that horrible under-lever lock and the proud breach! I've been away with 22LR and Win243, but getting back into my air rifles - quite fancy a HW95 or 98 - I'll check your channel to see if you had a shoot of them.

Great video, would love to see a comparison 97k against the tx straight out of the box. Been to s few shops and have these two in mind, but most shops say the 97k needs tuning, where as the tx is fine out of the box (from your video it doesn’t seem that way, shots seem acceptable). Anyway look forward to the next one, stay safe and happy new year to you.

Shooting from the "shoulder"??? You were shooting from your right forearm? I have a HW97KT, and have used a friends Air Arms TX200. I know which I prefer? I am a Military Veteran. My son has a 97KT, I shoot a HW100KT. My gun is superb, as is his but shooting mine feels dead. It lacks that sensation but it’s so accurate. Firing his 97KT, it’s very accurate too but there’s more theatre because of the noise and recoil. It feels “alive” and I like that, it’s the feeling you get shooting a springer.

I hated my hw97 for ages as I had accuracy issues. I changed pellets, scopes, holds and tried some different silencer mods. I timbum tuning kit made it a completely different animal. I sold my hw100 and kept the hw97 as it feels so much more engaging to shoot. The last nail in the coffin for my hw 100 was not being able to get my bottle refilled during lockdown, whereas the hw97 just needed pellets.

I had an LGV, super rifle that I just sold it my cousin, he doesn't shoot anything else now. I've got a HW97K that was a present but I mostly shoot my HW99S, just got a Webley Longbow but not shot it much yet. Those Walthers really are superb.

@ 4:38 the suppressor was £63.90 in 2023 (11 months ago). Now in Jan 2024 it is £83.40. A whopping 30.5% increase!! I wish my pay rose by that.

@rogerthedodger5788 It’s gone up again, I bought a silencer for my hw97kt and it was £90. And that was only two months ago. Yeah it would lovely if our wages went up that much wouldn’t it. 👍🏻

I think sometimes we get so excited about tuning guns to be honest it's us that needs tuning the guns are ok if treated correctly.

I really wouldn't recommend resting a spring/gasram air rifle on a wooden post, this can damage the scope and mark the stock.

In HFT you have to touch the peg with the gun, scope or part of your body. luckily I've never had an issue. Gary

Absolutely awesome rifles, I have it in the blue laminate but just by chance I saw a beach stock advertised so I’ve dressed it in that for when I’m out hunting as I don’t want to damage the blue laminate. It was as new and got it for £50 so in one sense I’ve got two 97’s and looks bang on in either stock. But my got are they accurate, got mine in 22 and at 35 yards it’s pellet on pellet.

Great Vid Gary... one tip...I always us a shooting glove with half fingers, which allows me to push the cocking lever button when I'm using a 97 :)

This video couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’m about to buy a tx or a ht, just can’t make up my mind which. However it will be on my firearms certificate so higher power. I think around 15 ft lbs in .177. A shootout would be very interesting. Also would like to know Garry’s views on the fac models.

I have the silver and black and its the best springer I have ever owned and the last I would ever part with. To me it's much better than the TX 200 that I had because of that awful bear trap button what a monstrosity that is, I have AAs BSAs FX and would let all those pcp,s go just keep the HW97K if it ever came to it, it's a lovely Rifle.

I have the TX200, Pro Sport, HW97 and HW97. The TX is the best of the lot for accuracy, balance and ease of maintenance.

👋🏾sup brAh! Own all three Walther lgu Weihrauch 97 and the tx200. All three 🤔 toss up! All three have great triggers all three are accurate but I have to give the Weihrauch the nod because of the loading port braddah 👊🏾😎

THIS COMPANY NEEDS TO DO A .22 Rreakbarrel with 25 to 30 pound feet like the Hatsan 125. IF EVERYONE DEMANDS IT! They'll do it! We need a quality break barrel that can take game accurately at 100 yards! Hatsan sucks butt! We need a quality accurate break barrel side or underlever more powerful than anything to date!
