Wow! What have I been doing? I've been a F1 fan for 40+ years and I've never seen anything like this. I feel like I've just watched the greatest race of my life, fantastic stuff.

Now this is proper racing, no fuel management, no tyre management, no brake management. Full on racing from the start, what a spectacle. Thanks for the recording, a real joy to watch and listen to.
@shanehnorman7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely - and not only no brake management, but hardly any brakes at all. Several of these cars, including the Sunbeam, no. 25, have no front-wheel brakes. I know it takes phenomenal fitness to drive F1, but it took phenomenal bravery to drive these machines at speed back in the day when roads were rarely hard-surfaced, if at all.
@Afro4083 жыл бұрын
It sure is! ‘No fuel management? Pump like hell with one hand! 😅 ‘No tyre management? Just let them wear out! 😁 ‘No brake management?’ They’ll last forever ’cause the drivers don’t use them! 🤣

I love it, this is some incredible auto racing. I've driven circle track cars before but I would have gather up enough nerve to drive these AWESOME vintage race cars. these guys don't have any fear at all they get the most out of these old race cars which makes the competition very exciting. I would definitely watch more of this kind of racing for sure. these guys make NASCAR look like a bunch of slobs.

@michaelcostigan48648 жыл бұрын
+Bill Dexhart The winner was a modern special based on a 1920s GN cyclecar fitted with a Curtiss aero engine; the second car was the 1923 V12 Delage - the only one built and a former World Land Speed Record holder (143mph); third was the only surviving Indianapolis Sunbeam from 1916; and fourth was the recreation of the 1905 Land Speed Record (109mph) Darracq built around the original engine.

I feel like they need to separate the field up a little more, those cars that were racing close to together but the leaders were lapping need to be in a race of their own. I've watched some later races and I almost irks me how the GN Curtiss is always at the front. Not that I bear any ill will to the driver, just how unfair the race is to the other competitors who can't, to be frank, compete.
@donroberts21265 жыл бұрын
I don't agree. If you separate the entry too much you'll only have half-a-dozen cars on track and that would reduce the spectacle. The are very few opportunities to race any car more than 100 years old on a regular basis in Britain. When you get the chance - especially at Goodwood - you grab it with both hands. The guys at the back don't care if they're 10, 15, 60 seconds-a-lap slower than the front-runners. All they want is the opportunity to get out there and give it the beans!
@crazymodelgarage64387 жыл бұрын
those are the real old cars or are they remakes? what if someone crashes, and destroy those peices of art?

eso mismo pregunto yo
@felixarbable8 жыл бұрын
why do these cars run negative front camber?
@racerx1438 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure that is positive camber and I was wondering the same thing.
@nocturnalmayhem08 жыл бұрын
+racerx143 when the car corners at high speed the force pulls the inside wheel to almost 0 camber and provides traction from what i think.
@felixarbable8 жыл бұрын
but the inside wheel is not under hardly any load and by that logic the outside wheel would have even worse camber issues
@nocturnalmayhem08 жыл бұрын
+felix pinto ya i caught that after i replied hah it has to do with the cross ply tires that were used until the 1940s, thank you google Lol
@felixarbable8 жыл бұрын
"I remember reading a long time ago it is because of the extreme crown of the roads back then. The center of the road was much higher than the edges to help drainage. Positive camber helped keep the entire tire patch on the road. Imagine if you will driving along the length of a cylinder." other commentors point out its about the non indipenant front suspension and bump steer etc
